I posted this in Off-Topic before realizing that we have a wonderful forum dedicated to CPUs (I don't venture much outside ATOT
)
I just purchased a like new Thinkpad. When I saw the WinXP reporting it 535mhz, I thought, okay, Speedstep Technology has knocked it down a notch. But then I disabled speedstep, it shows 700mhz. I thought that the guy who sold it to me ripped me off by switching CPUs, but then went to the BIOS where it shows processor to be 900mhz. What's going on?
It's a Thinkpad t22
Specs from IBM site
I updated BIOS to no avail. That, however, shouldn't be the problem since the stock bios would presumably report the proper CPU speed.
