Bios replacement chip question????

I just received a new PLCC bios chip for my motherboard, but it didn't come with instructions on which way it installs. Is it directional and which way should it go? Can it hurt to install it the opposite way? Thanks...

I think it should have a cut edge, kind of like a cpu. That edge should only fit in the cut edge of the socket.
