Bios Question: "PNP OS installed" yes or no

Usually it doesn't matter depending on the maker of the BIOS. But it's always safe to have it in the "YES". The problem with the "NO" setting is that sometimes the BIOS will auto detect the hardware for the OS while at the same time the OS is also auto detecting. Resulting in having two or even more entries of the same device on the Device Manager.😎

Unless you are having IRQ problems, the answer is no...you are better off letting the bios assign IRQ's when possible.

No for me works fine
dual boot linux and win me

of course yes works for me too... in windows at least. can't remember about linux

Mine is at set at "no",btw using Win98 OS1,I`ve no ISA slots on my board all PCI & AGP.

🙂

You have to set it to 'No' if planning on installing NT server or workstation. These OS do not use PNP technology.
Only 95/98 and 2000 support it.

i use Yes...i also have an ISA PnP modem...

works fine...i had one problem with installing win98se during setup...it would freeze...i turned it to 'No' and it solved it...

keep it on 'Yes' unless u're having issues...

Not sure it makes a heck of a whole load of difference for windows. I've only changed the setting if I had problems detecting a device.
