I have a thinkpad 2652M4U type A31 that has a bios password set on it. Is there a way to get around this. I have tried taking out the cmos battery. Is there anything else I can do, maybe some special trick I can try or something?

TIA

By the way, it isnt stolen...I got it from a friend at my job...now how he got it is yet to be known.

The same happened to me with my laptop, although not a Ibm thinkpad. What I did was reflash the bios to the latest and viola the password protection had gone, Thank God! I hope you may have the same fortune as I had.

There is a company on the web that sells BIOS chips for IBMs. It's been awhile since I read their site, but you need to be careful about HDD passwords, as those can render the drive useless.
