BIOS Issue?

Ok. I think this should go in here or the OC forum...

I powered on my system today and had an issue. The system information did not match the speeds (cpu, fsb, mem) that I had set for months and were running without issue yesterday. I went to the bios and even the HDD was set to IDE instead of ACHI. The memory timings were set back to auto. All of my voltages were set back to defaults. The timings were still accurate but my multiplier was 8x instead of 8.5x (CPU n/2 ratio was set to disabled instead of enabled).

I any idea what the hell happened? Is my CMOS battery going bad? Almost everything was set back to defaults except for the fsb timings. WTF?

My components are in my signature.

Anybody? On another forum, I had the suggestion to switch out the CMOS battery but in the mean time I am rerunning Prime 95 to see if my system is stable still. (don't know why it wouldn't be. 4.5 hrs in and all is well)

Any suggestions on what happened? Any thoughts on what my be the issue besides CMOS? Anybody ever heard of this happening?

Did you install any software lately or change anything 'minor' thing in the bios?

The memory or the mb could be dying.

No changes recently. I settled on my clocks and voltages months ago.

Mobo dying? I hope not. That could get expensive because I would immediately go into upgrade core components mode...

so it passed prime, memtest, and occt so still stable. I switched out the cmos battery and have powered on and off the system about a dozen times and no bios settings have changed. Guess the battery was the issue.
