BIOS flashing questions:

Alright, I was told in order to fix my problem BELOW, I need to flash my BIOS

After I flash my BIOS, do I need to format and/or reinstall windows?

And also, I'm using an Asus A7V KT133a, and it doesn't list the fix I want under the KT133a drivers, but it does under the KT133 drivers, does this mean it won't fix it?

What else do I need to know, and any tips on how not to mess it UP?

BIOS flash should never mean format/reinstall

you will have to go into your BIOS and set it up how you like it though, as it does reset it.

i don't have this board or any experience, so sorry i couldn't help more...

...No

Flashing the BIOS

And on the KT133-133A Issue got to the ASUS site and grab the latest Official BIOS for your Mainboard

When flashing your BIOS be very careful not to unplug or turn off your system. This is one of the very few things that if you mess up, you can easily have a dead system.

and remember, after flashing it, that you have to reboot and go back into the new bios and choose "load setup defaults"

Just one hint: Never flash in windows or in dos mode...only in pure dos (bootdisc or whatever)...

I personally love flashing my BIOS. It's one of the last real kicks in this world 😀

I'm flashophile...I flash whenever some new firmware is hitting the net...mobos, cd-roms, scsi-controller, soundcard, ...aaaaah, I'm addicted to it...😉

First off, I cannot find the problem you mentioned to be "Below". Maybe if you mentioned it we could at least come up to an answer if the Bios Flashing will solve your problem. Since you mentioned that your problem fix is listed under the KT133 and you have a KT133A, it'll probably fix the problem, since both chips are closely related to each other.😎

1, In windows, format a disk in the "copy system files" mode
2, copy the ?????.awd file (bios update you dl) and the aflash util.
3, boot your machine on the floppy you just formatted
4, type aflash in the prompt
5, press "2" (i think) to copy your old bios to a file .awd, call it oldbios.awd
6, make shure that your mom is NOT using the dishwasher, washing machine, water heater, blowdryer, crabiron, vacumcleaner all at the same time, and make shure your little brother is NOT f****** around with your power cables.
7, press "1" to flash your bios with the new bios, type newbios.awd when asked, and press enter, and feel the thrill!!!
8, reboot, enter the bios, reset everything, enjoy your new features...
9, remove floppy and reboot the machine...

ROFL 😀

I've never flashed a BIOS, but after reading julianf's 'HOW-TO' (BTW, 'sure' does not have an 'h' in it 😉 ) it seems so simple that even my little brother could do it. I think 😕

"and remember, after flashing it, that you have to reboot and go back into the new bios and choose "load setup defaults"

I learned that the hard way, 2 weeks of random lockups before I reloaded......🙁
