I finally decided (against better judgement) to flash my Bios on my Mobo, and now I'm BSODing when Windows loads. I'm running Windows XP. I followed the directions exactly, and when into the bios and updated the changes. Things were confirmed correctly, but during the loading windows splash screen, the machine quickly BSODs, and then reboots.

Please help!

Thank You! I'm posting from the machine in question, so it's working...a little strange though. After changing the FSB and RAM speeds in the BIOS it's still reporting my chip as an "Athlon 4" instead of an "Athlon 1700XP+" like it did before.

Oh well...small price to pay for a working machine.

Any tips for flashing in the future? Or anyone else experience this problem?

I highly doubt that it was a bad flash or anything that caused the BSOD.. rather just changes in the bios that Windows didn't like. If you configured it properly you would of been fine.

Well, the bios that didn't work was configured exactly like the current bios...and the current bios works.

I was just going to flash it and upgrade to a 2400XP, but at this point, I think I'll just get a new mobo and a Barrton.

What's the cheepo bios.

Also, I didn't say it wouldn't take it...but I do need to update the bios before installing one.
