I was trying to flash bios to v2.4, but it stopped or was hanging for 25 min. So I ignored the Warning, Don't power off or reset, and pressed reset button. Well, luckily it started up with old bios.

I have a weired memory problem. Windows is not reading my momory correctly, it's reading the memory counts 3mb less than correct number. Also, Norton Utility is not finishing the momory test. It reports memory test failed due to an error in certain address. I'm sorting out which stick has problem or it's the utility problem.

I took out 2 sticks, and ran the momory test with 1 Crucial stick with no problem. But I was trying to flashsh bios after set the bios as Optimized Default but multiplier lowest(which is x8 on my board), the computer is posting 1200mhz for my 1gig tbird, Agp 150mhz, Pci 66mhz, memory 100mhz.

Is it safe to flash bios in this condition?
Could the momory problem have anything to do with the bios failure, the hanging?

Thanks.

Well, I was using Live bios on pro2a, until it killed the bios chip.:)
It is the first time to flash bios with this board.

So the momory error has nothing to do with flashing bios?

Had this problem on my Pro2a with the hanging flash problem and got it to flash by loading bios defaults then rebooting.

See this thread for the pro2a flash problem Link

As for the memory mismatch do you have any bios shadowing going on?

Hmmm, the default bios is the optimized default, or clearing the jumper?
I used the optimized default, but modified the multiplier as lowest I have, since I heard I will lose lower multipliers if I don't set it lowest.

I ran Norton Utility memory test for individual stick and all 3 passed.
It's probably true that the utility test is useless over 256mb of ram.
Probably one of stupid things of Windows98.:disgust:

How I can flash from HD?

Thanks for the heip.
