BIOS Error when OCing

HI
I have Duron 600@850 stable with Abit KT7 MB..
But whenever I max the voltage to 1.85V and set the Multipler to 9.5*10 I get bios error(I forgot the exact message, some kind of checksum error)..and alarm sounds.
When this happens I have to turn off the comp and take the battery out of MB to reset the BIOS..
Does any of you know what might be the problem?
I don't think I have seen anyone getting similar error on the forum..

thanks..

Mleafs,
I just recently had a similar problem, but with the Abit KA7-100 MB. If I overclock my "classic" 800 Athlon past 850mhz [no GFD device 🙁 ] it fries the Bios. Doesn't matter how I set the FSB & FSB PLus in the BIOS. This has occured three to four times on two different KA7-100 boards. I haven't been able to find anyone to give me a possible explanation as to WHY it happens. My only speculation is that it is a possible weakness with the Abit boards.

Each time the BIOS fried I was able to boot from a system floppy and restore the old BIOS.
