BIOS A7V question....

Well, I would like to know if there is any reason to go to the next set of bios from asus....


I hear that the 1006 series has some major problems resulting in fried motherboards.

what would be the reason to go up from the 1004a? I seem to be totally stable with a duron 600@950...

are there any good reasons to flash?

The 1005 was suppose to solve the heat problems with the 1004. Where did you find a 1006? I haven't even seen a mention of the 1005 being available yet. The last BIOS update I've seen reference to was the 1004c.

If you don't experience any problems with your system, there really is no reason to upgrade the BIOS unless there are some performance fixes.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Or at least break it first. That's what I usually end up doing.

well, i am running the following temps:

cpu - duron 600@900 1.85v - 43c
mobo - 28c

I kinda felt that these temps are inaccurate, mainly due to the fact that I am using asus probe.

if the bios upgrade adjusts the temp then thats a pretty good reason. If its just a matter of more accurate bios readings, I might hold off...

can someone point me to the 1005bios link?

I only see the 1004c on the asus site.

I totally agree w/ paulip88. If it's not messing up, don't mess w/ it. You could end up w/ a dead motherboard on your hand.
If you check Asus's website.
They listed what each Bios's revision was supposed to fix.
After you are happy w/ your case temp and have finished messing w/ your system. I would turn all of the temp probe program off, some people have reported that those probe program raise your system temp.
