Biofinity contacts: anyone ever use them?

hehe i just called you girlish in another thread, and it turns out i was right!

i would love to have contacts but the thought of placing something on my eyeball creeps me out more than anything in the universe

For 18 years I've known I needed Toric lenses for astigmatism. For 18 years I've hated every attempt at Toric lenses. Every lense was scratchy, "grippy", moved a lot. Finally found an optometrist that went through 6 samples until we hit the Biofinity Torics... Perfect. Barely tell they are in my face. Would recommend them, at least sample (which it sounds like you did)

ok good. It sounds like your eyes are a lot like mine. Between them being all sensitive and my allergies, contacts can be a severe PITA.

Glad you found a good doc. I finally found a good one too. The weird part is that he works at one of the discount eyeglass places. All the docs at the big name stores were complete idiots. This guy takes his time, makes honest recommendations and has zero tolerance for bullshit. I like him.

putting them in is the easy part. Taking them out sucks.

Every once in a while I'll forget that I took them out and I'll spend a couple minutes trying to pull my eyeball out. Even when I don't do that, it feels like I'm pulling off the gooey layer of my eyeball every time I take them out.

I have tried a dual thirty pack of one day disposables from CooperVision. The ClearSight - Toric - 1Day.

These were the only 1Day disposable contact lenses available for my poor vision and are extremely comfortable. Unfortunately, my eye doctor keeps attempting to direct me to the Bausch & Lomb SofLens daily disposables or the Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys 30 day disposables.

For me, the J&J Acuvue Oasys feel like rubber at the end of the day, allowing no air through for my eyes. The Bausch & Lomb are good and have been a solid company for many years now. However, the CooperVision really surprised me with their comfort. Yet my eye doctor continues to "recommend" B&L or J&J.

I think the eye care industry is under just as much medical sample bribery as the pharmaceutical industry has been. Especially now where all online contact lens orders need to be "approved" by the eye doctor.

I have actually had to get to the point where I tell my doctor they either hand me the prescription so I can order my own contacts online AND they will approve my online orders, or I will not pay their bill.

The CooperVision contacts have worked very well for me, I have worn contact lenses for over 25 years now, and I expect the Biofinity to be just as good as the ClearSight that I have worn.

It helps to put a few drops of saline solution into the eye to lubricate the lens before pulling it out. This prevents a dry lens from ripping the cornea during removal.
