Ok I'm always confused with these devices. Let's say you can hear said conversation across the street and then a car backfires as it's driving by right next to you. Won't that amplify that noise and damage your ears?

They were doing good marketing it as a cheap hearing aid, but then they tried to make it sound like a spy device and it ruined it.
