Compare Bing and Google directly in a blind test, see which wins out over the other.

Google - 4
Bing - 1

So much for direct comparison, great promotion, Microsoft haha

If you use their suggested searches, Bing will probably win. It's pretty clear they hand picked those. It's also hard not to be biased since I can tell which one is Google based on the font.

The interesting thing to me is that Google's results aren't much better than Bings. I may even choose Bing every now and then. They're fairly comparable products. If you remember the past, MSN Search was awful compared to Google. Just being 90% as good as Google is quite an accomplishment.

I use Bing 95% of the time nowadays. Set it as the default homepage and search engine in Firefox on our laptop and my desktop. And my phone is a Windows Phone, so all of its searches are Bing.

I did the 5 block test and Google won 4-1 for me too. Of course I use Google by default, so maybe I'm just accustomed to their results?

I have zero pain points with google- thus I've never had a reason to even consider an alternative. OTOH I have three browsers installed on every computer, but this behavior was event-driven where one or another had a hiccup. Thus all three browsers home page to google.com.

I got 0 rounds for bing.

I prefer google over it as the wiki for stuff generally comes up closer to the top plus it's a lot neater in format generally.

For my terms: Bing 2, Google 2, Draw 1. The funny thing is that I use them about equally so it actually does make sense.

I've been on Bing full time for about a year now. I prefer the search environment, as well as the image search. I occasionally have to duck over to Google for something, but it's increasingly rare.

Meh, I don't give a shit. As long as the search feature works (I get results that resemble my keyword) and there isn't as much shit/clutter on the main page like Yahoo, I'd use either. But I've been using google for over a decade, so I stick with it out of laziness and "loyalty".

Bing will do fine as long as Microsoft has the money to just keep it alive long enough to purge the Google reliance in lots of people.

I've been using Bing for a couple months and actually it gives me better results for things I like.

Especially ammo and guns and gun accessories. Google refuses to do Shopping results for those now.

Google 5 Bing 0

Although only three of the five searches were serious, the other two I couldn't post here. Although even when I didn't give a care about the results Google was still better.

Bing is better than Google now, people need to wake up and realize this. That being said I still use Google.

I prefer the google white page. Plus I'm used to it and use their maps all the time, and since I have no gripes with it I'm not looking for an alternative.

First query: when light travels slower than sound.
Second query: snell's law derived from Maxwell's equations
Third: fainting goats
Fourth: animation of a simple generator
Fifth: <my school> staged shooting police practice

Results: G, Draw, B, B, G - it's a tie 2-2-1. B won the goats because G was fixated on ridiculous youtube videos, which in all honesty, is probably what 95% of the people would want if they searched for that. Thus, I think for the overall population, G wins that one. The draw - neither had a quick link to the derivation without having to weed through 100 pages in a pdf.
