Alot of history I should learn to my benefit. Someone have a link or care to tell me some of the things that he is implying with the names and names of events he gives in this song?

Amusing. You'll note that this is chronological order in the 20th century. Now if only we had someone with the skillz of Billy Joel to make one that emcompasses the entire 20th century rather than the majority of it, without being annoying, we'd almost have a useful educational tool (actually, to be honest, I first bumped into this song in my 8th grade 20th century history unit)

Works great to have both those links open and you can read along with the one while listening to the other. Never know that's where this song came from. Very interesting.

I really enjoy that song, always have.

Same here...i have always liked that song. Its in a way timeless. I don't like many older songs but this one has always been good to hear.

old? for god's sake it was only 15 years ago or so. when he was on vh1's storytellers he said he just wanted to do a song about the events of the world that happened in his lifetime....
