I don't care what his politic is or his philosphy or past history. His money spends just as good as anyone elses, and he has plenty of it. He has stated he is throwing his money to unseat Bush. Thats fine with me. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend. " I heard that somewhere. Might be appropriate for the moment. It is obvious he is not pleased with Bush, as is over half this country and most all of europe and asia, canada and south america. In fact, the only support he has is from the neocons, who Soros is supplying funds to rid the government from.

Read what you wrote quietly to yourself. Now ask yourself what if Saddam Hussein or UBL were putting up money to liberal causes to unseat Bush. According to what you just said, you'd have no problem. You wouldn't stop to think that maybe, given your company, that you could be on the wrong side of the fence.

Rahvin has an excellent point and you're dismissing it with your short-sighted partisan rhetoric.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend. "

You really believe that?

no wonder why we have so much more delicious spam these days and of course internet fraud originating from that region, let us all thank soros. i bet those eastern europeans are collecting ebay and paypal passwords to save them for future prosperity, much like the ongoing project in southeast asia to accumulate laptops from ebay and erect a pyramid using sony vaio's

he's like the european al gore! seeing as how he made $1 billion in a day several decades ago betting against europe [actually just the pound] glad he's giving some of that money back.

right... blame eastern europeans for spam and call them theives? Are you serious? Every country that has internet has people who do this, don't blame eastern europeans because you're inconvienced by spam. They're not as well off as you and fraud is prevelant where there's no money... that area is Mafia driven sure, but to keep them back in the "stone age" is just wrong because they need to benefit from technology as much as you do.

Do you have any idea who George Soros is?

He's a dirty son of a b!tch that has single handily destroyed the lives of millions of people. Through his market manipulations he wrecked the weak economy of the early Russian federation, he single handily tried to crush the Hong Kong stock market but was prevented by direct intervention by the government using tax monies. These are simply two of a long string of economy destroying moves he has made that resulted in windfall profit for him.

Dont' get me wrong, I'm a staunch capitalist but this guy is the cream of the crop of dirty capitalists that make everyone else look bad. The guy deliberatly bets against an economy then uses his vast resources to cause those economies to collapse. I would wager over half his "billions" came from direct market manipulation.

Take everything Soros says with a bag of salt because while he is talking about politics and humanitarian efforts he's reaching into your pocket and stealing your wallet.

That's how you do business in Russia. Bancrupt the economy and then pick up the juicy parts at a fire sale. Anyways, anything that will get Bush out sounds good to me.

So this Soros guy has paid off a ton of Execs in the U.S.?

Do you have any idea how the international currency exchange markets work? Actually that's a silly question because you obviously don't based on the question you asked.

Chicago Maroon, I completely disagree with your "press release," but I thought it was one of the more clever moves I've seen in these discussions.

Hero of Pelinoor, you said "Nice to know the Democrats can always count on 74 year old billionaires who buy into the demonizing of the Conservatives because it gives them one last gasp of self-importance before the bell tolls for them.' Get a grip on yourself! This move by Soros is unprecedented. Soros has made money by consistently betting on the money making side of trends. When he says [I paraphrase] "Ths Bush administration is stupid and dangerous." Don't you think that's worth something. Not everyone is interested in making money, but Soros is. He has been very successfull at it. That's a check on reality. OK, having established that the guy deals in reality, please go back to my paraphrase about the Bush administration being stupid and dangerous.

This isn't Econ 101, if you wish to understand the International currency exchange market I suggest you get googling or take a college course in it. Suffice it to say that Soros is known to short sell a currency to cause a dramatic drop in the value of the currency. He sells on margin and in the case of making the malaysian currency crash he short sold billions of dollars of the currency and caused the entire malaysian market to crash as a result and made 12 billion on the deal after he cleared his short position. He has done this many many times, as I mentioned previously he tried to do it to Hong Kong and the government intervened to prevent him from succeeding, the government ended up having to dump over 20 billion into their own currency to prevent the crash.

I had just started investing when he crushed Malaysia and tried to crush Hong Kong. I remember reading the articles about it and what he was doing and how he crushed the Russian ruble shortly after communism fell. I came to the conclusion he's one evil fvcker and anything he says is something he's saying to benefit him and him alone. I just can't understand how someone would destroy the lives of millions of people just to generate profits for themselves.

He's revered in some circles of the investment community because he's such a ruthless capitalist, those same circles chastised the Hong Kong government for preventing his manipulation of the HK dollar.

He was also recently convicted of insider trading in France and fined 2.2 million dollars.

Soros is just a capitalist in the extreme

Americans and especially Republicans should be proud of him
