He is stupid for saying that, and people who got offended are stupid for getting offended. ANd oh yeah, Dallas Cowboys are stupid because they are, well, Dallas Cowboys.

Would someone from Bush's administration use 'Jap' or 'Oriental?' Probably not. At least not in public :p

you are on crack,
oriental is at most 50s way to say asian, and to me Jap is just an abbrieviation for Japanese. Neither of those carry any negative connotation that I've been able to pick up at any point.

I'm european and its analogous to me getting offended for someone calling me a "Euro". Hell eurotrash wont offend me, i find that phrase hilarious :)

Maybe it's just me, but I think the bombing is more offensive. If you can drop bombs on some other unprovoked country, then it's kind of fair game for them to talk about it later. If I walked up on the street and punched someone in the balls, I wouldn't expect them not to say anything about it the next day. I think I'd be glad if they could joke about it later. It's not like this is ancient history, there are people still alive who were there.

I'm sorry, but "Yank" or "Euro" is not the same. Racial derogatory terms aren't used very often these days, but they're still insulting. Now you're going to say that "ch*nk" shouldn't be offensive...

My grandfather was in WW2 and he hated the Japs. Japan should expect that it will take a couple generations for Americans to put aside our differences.

Well first off all it doesn't not qualify as a racial slur, because it doesnt depict people of a certain race but rather people that are citizens of a particular country...

Seeing as it came from WW2 (Yanks vs. Japs, Tommies vs Jerries,Brits vs Krauts etc), it was a term for a person belonging to a particular side, not race. There were many soldiers of Japanese origin fighting in WW2 that were yanks and im sure there were some white people that were Japs.

Ch*nk is nowhere near the same thing as Jap. This is simple common sense.

Yeah, and I also find that the people who still use Jap are the older ones including veterans of WW2. It is just what they called them.
