some of the shit he spouts is just that shit... some of it is ok, I'm not a huge fan, but wtf was he trying to get across here exactly besides the regular talk shit on teabaggers thing? Plus can we stop calling them teabaggers? it really demeans the art of teabagging.

Maher is demonstrably dumb. As in, even when he's right on an issue, he's wrong. Because his reasoning is just so gawd damned ass backwards.

I don't even think he has a point most of the time. Did you ever see Religulous? It's just him trolling people for an hour.

In this video, he at least raises a good point that you're not going to kill the deficit unless you raise taxes or cut spending. When spending cuts hit a limit, raise taxes to make up the difference. Don't like it? Let's go back and see what else we can cut.

I actually saw that on TV. It was the last minute of the show.

He said that unless a person wants to completely dismantle the entire US military, you cannot be against any wasteful spending whatsoever. And if you are against wasteful spending, you are a racist. When I saw the hat, I was already laughing. Stupid authoritarians. They hate the constitution so much I believe it causes them physical pain that it sometimes holds them back from killing the innocent Americans they want out of the way.

Isn't this the guy calling the US cowards right after 911? Why is he even kind of relevant?

The opposite, I believe. Maher said that the hijackers had serious balls to fly themselves into buildings for their cause.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politically_Incorrect#Controversy_and_cancellation

In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and elsewhere, U.S. President George W. Bush said that the terrorists responsible were cowards. (Included in the September 11 attacks was the crash of American Airlines Flight 77, which included the death of frequent guest Barbara Olson, and Maher left a panel chair empty for a week afterwards.) On Politically Incorrect's September 17 show, Maher's guest Dinesh D'Souza disputed Bush's label, saying the terrorists were warriors.[3] Maher agreed, and according to a transcript replied "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly".[3]

It does take balls to fly a plane into a building while you're still in the plane, but it was rude of him to say missiles and bombs are cowardly. What does he want the US soldiers to do? Suicide bomb terrorists? Come on man.

Whoever said the present tea parties were in emulation of the Boston parties? It was just something that came up when that business analyst was in room on Wall St with booing workers and he said there should be a tea party over the spending.

Even Maher's Network head said he's a dik

Actually he said to cut the defense spending (all of it) in half. Not dismantle. Make it equal to the top 8 next countries as opposed to the next 15.

It's like the only expensive thing we have that even can pretend it serves a purpose. But I understand, I am a racist, or whatever lie it is this week to single out anyone who likes freedom.

I don't disagree with the raising taxes or cut spending, we should actually be doing both(even though I fucking HATE taxes) right now. The problem I have is people don't want to do both, they want one or the other and if we raise taxes or a VAT odds are it won't ever be reversed and won't go hand in hand with spending.

The biggest problem we have is our politicians won't stop spending money, even if we don't have it, even if we can't get it, they'll find a way to spend it. This is what I don't understand. I as a regular person cannot live like that, in fact right now I'm pretty fucking strapped. My roommate bailed, straight packed his shit and moved out, I got no warning he didn't pay me for rent and I basically got stuck for two months of rent on my tab until I just got my new roommate to move in. Would of been perfectly fine if I had known, I had no warning of it so now I'm strapped for paying two months rent when I owe around 2 grand in taxes and I have to vehicle registration coming up. I'm not going to go live on fucking credit and put myself in even more of a hole if I don't have to. I can get all this squared away simply by not eating out, cutting back smoking(tobacco and weed), and stop drinking. Hell I even carpool to work now because it saves time and money for a coworker and I.

I'm not even that responsible of a person, all I'm want is for our politicians to be at minimum as responsible as I am.

Disagree with him on the Defence Cut point if you like, but he's spot on about the Disconnect between what People Want and what they're willing to do to get it. There will be no progress on the Debt without Spending Cuts and Tax Increases. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

For people who fail to imagine truly revolutionary cuts, this is true.

Because, as he correctly points out, the next question is to ask the people WHAT these cuts are, and nobody can ever agree on anything that they don't want anymore. Therefore, these "revolutionary" cuts never happen.
