Every once in a while, I find reason to read up on Bill Hicks. The guy was a genius comic for those that don't know. One of the best ever in my opinion and the opinion of many other comics.

For those that don't know, it looks like BBC is working on a new biography that is supposed to come out this year.
There is even a web page (with nothing there):
http://americanthemovie.com/

BIGGER NEWS THOUGH!
A movie about Bill Hicks rumored to be directed by Ron Howard is said to be in pre-production. Russell Crowe has been mentioned as one of the producers and may portray Hicks as well.

I can just barely see Russel Crowe as Hicks. Doesn't matter, I'll watch anything about Bill Hicks. He's, bar none, my favorite comedian.

Concur.

Why Russel Crow though ...... at first I didn't mind but I don't think he can pull it off. Truth is, I don't think anyone can.

As for Ron Howard. I am happy to see that a good director is doing it, granted I don' know if he is the right choice.

In a single movie, Bill Hicks legacy could be destroyed or enshrined.

I didn't know it, but on January 30th, the never aired appearance by Bill Hicks was shown on David Letterman. I MISSED IT ... Nooooooo.

Ugh, Crowe would never pull it off and nothing Ron Howard could direct would be vulgar enough to capture Hicks properly.

I'd still see it though, I loved Bill Hicks

I'll watch it.

Who'd of guessed Jim Carrey could pull off Any Kaufman but Man on the Moon is a great movie.

"Today, young men on acid realize that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all part of one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There?s no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we?re the imagination of ourselves."

A funny and smart guy. Too bad he had to do that dying thing.

Wow, started this thread 6 years ago. In 2012, Russel Crowe was slated to direct a movie about Bill. And today, nothing. Give me my damn movie! Atleast American Scream came out. That is a decent documentary about the man,

Bill hicks liked this guy:

Interesting .. watch the quoted youtube video a few posts up to know why it is actually interesting.

ROFL
Fellow Texan, the late comedian[18] Bill Hicks, opened for Eric Johnson on at least one occasion in the Eighties. The highly intoxicated Hicks made light of Eric's lack of hit singles, as well as his vegetarian and teetotal lifestyle, by suggesting that if Eric were to eat a hamburger and drink a beer he would be able to write more popular songs. After this incident Bill Hicks was not asked to open for Johnson ever again.[19]

Man, it's one thing to hear him perform. But the physical bits he puts on are just perfect.

This guy was great but as Hicks argued, he didn't make it because he pushed the limits of decency to far.

Oh, and the dude is smart. It is obvious if you listen to him enough that this guy read ALOT.
