yes...this was announced in June of 2006. He will still be the Chairman of the Board. He was once Chairman, CEO, and Chief Architecht, with the latter two being day-to-day management, and he has gradually been transitioning out of these roles so he can spend more time working with his charity, the Gates Foundation.

None of this is new, and it is not the beginning of the end of Microsoft.

Oh, so that is the case.At the moment Bill needs Microsoft,they doesn't need him. he has worked hard and he has a cream of developers,analysts and programmers.He can plan long time strategies to operate the company,in his absence.
 
Suprised it took him this long. Once I hit 100 mil I sure as hell am not working anymore.
