He knew that a wave would knock a coke into my keyboard. I GOT STICKY KEYS! DAMN the stinkin' weather SUCKS.

That noise has got to be the silliest thing I've ever heard. Reminds me of the "birdies" that CB'ers use to put in their power mics (D104 lolipops) to make that noise when they key up. Browing Golden Eagles would momentarily leave the receiver speaker on so the mic would feedback and fade out (Browning squeal) so I guess they had to come up with a knockoff for the Tram boys. ;)

Last I recall, she lives in something in the water. I saw a picture of all the computers strapped down.

so, a cruiseship... a wave.. what, a real re-enactment of poseidon? lmao
what kind of wave would make a ship that large move enough to force a can of pop to fall over? we had 12ft swells on the cruiseship we were on and it didn't sway enough to force things to fall. and it had a tonnage of around 90,000 tons

If you're running 2000 or newer hit your shift key five times in a row. You will need to have a PC speaker connected to the PC Speaker header on your motherboard obviously. Hear the birdie squeal?

12' is hardly much of a swell. Seas up to 20' yesterday but they felt like 30. That's just the way it is - spend enough time at sea and you sea it all. :p It's not how big your ship is, it's the size of the waves that matter always. Incidentally it's my fault for sitting it down where I did. Combined with the timing of the movement and my poorly timed attempt to grab the can I wound up actually smacking it dumping its contents (where else?) right into the keyboard. Out with the old, in with the new. These new Dell media keyboards are actually nice.

Just last week I managed to dump a full cup of rootbeer right in my lap like a moron. I was trying to put on my hand phones while holding the cup and forgot the cup was full of soda. Fortunately only a little bit got on my keyboard. However my backspace key is nice and sticky now. It should get better with use. Right now it's obnoxious.

ditto...I'm . What the hell is MS Dawn talking about?

She didn't mean a WAVE, she meant a .WAV file. She had her speakers turned up and accidentally hit the shift key 5 times in a row which turns on "sticky keys". When it gets enabled I guess it makes a noise!

No the noise comes from the PC speaker not the sound card.

Soda + keyboard = sticky keys.

Windows has a feature called sticky keys. Look it up. :)

Was that included with a recent (within a year) PC purchase? Call Dell and tell them your keyboard is acting up. Last I heard, Dell will send out a new one, without requiring you to ship the old one back.

It's a spare just for these kind of things. Around here we state the obvious: SHIP HAPPENS. ;)

My PC isn't a Dell - I was using a Logitech G15 which has a decent feel to it although it's big. Even after just a few short months the keys started wearing down (the C key is completely gone) letting the blue light shine through. I've seen this on other Logitech keyboards too. They just don't seem to have the fit and finish of some of the better designs. I don't know who makes the Dell keyboards but they hold up to public use very nicely.

Speaking of not requiring the old keyboards to be sent back in - is it true that used keyboards and mice are considered non returnable because of health risks? Honestly it would not surprise me knowing what's on some keyboards. :Q They're probably second (as far as haven for pathogens) to shopping cart handles!

It's just not worth it to them. What are they going to do with a $5.00 piece of broken equipment? Why pay, or make the customer pay $7.00 to ship it back? MS does the same with their mice, and I had the same experience recently with a Canon print head. Just too much cost and trouble to put the customer through.

Before the president of China got to meet George Bush, Bill Gates had dinner w/ him. Bill Gates got priority over George Bush.

Stupid? Yes. hilarious? absolutely. Genius? you be the judge.
