Toss in a $20 just in case.[/QUOTE]

Yep. Sure is nice to walk in a gas station to refill the bottles and grab a snack along the route. That pit stop could be the difference between getting home or being 30 miles out and you're spent. Money or credit card are essentials.

I don't know anyone that carries a couple of wrenches with them. And if all he planned on doing was park rides a mile out from his car he should have went to Wal-Mart and bought a $100 special. The closest mountain bike trails around me still have you out several miles from your car. I also don't know of any wedges that would carry the weight of some wrenches along with all the other essentials. You really are giving some bad bicycling advice here.

I'm confused by this post. Are you saying that carrying tools necessary to perform emergency service is a bad idea?

Oh man, that picture brings up bad memories! I'm surprised you guys remember that thread.

It's not just us that remember. Your pipes remember too and who can blame them? The way you slowly sawed that pipe to death and made all the others listen to his death screams for hours while he begged for mercy. His name was Billy by the way.

Carrying unnecessary tools? Yes.
Full size box wrenches are not part of a cyclists tool kit. A multi tool, tire levers, spare tubes, chain tool, spoke wrench, and air pump is all you need. My multi has a tire lever and chain tool. I still carry a set of Pedro's tire levers.

So carrying necessary tools is not a problem. I have no problem putting full size tools in my non-carry-on tool kit, however.

I think you mean start wearing a helmet....

Yea, I'm lucky nothing worse happened.

Was giving you the benefit of the doubt. It's your head.
Yep. Worst one I had, I was going maybe 15MPH, max. Broken collar bone, bruised hip, destroyed front tire and my helmet split half way up. Would have been an ambulance ride if it had been my skull. What was I doing besides doing it wrong? Going around a corner, jumping a speed bump that I'd jumped 100 times.
