Bikers

I did 26 miles yesterday, and although I was barely tired after teh trip, I basically collapsed two hours later and slept from 7pm yesterday to 9am today😱

It was to be expected since thiswas my first trip this season.

That said, I wanted to see what a normal distance for you is at moderate to high-moderate speed. Regularly I do about 40miles.....with sprinting in between of about a 1/2 to 1mile about twice every 5 miles.

I did around 50km back when I was like 12 back in the Czech Republic, alot more hills then here in Florida. The most I've done here was maybe like 5 miles or so...

My usual loop is 30 miles with 4 steep climbs (but under 1 mile long) and the rest is a mix of rolling roads and longer but not so steep climbs + a few fun down hills.
It takes me 2.5 hours at 12mph average.
I feel pretty good about myself afterwards... until Fausto enters the thread :Q
🙂

WTH do you find 15K ft of vertical in 10 miles? If I drive to the top of pikes peak thats only about 7K feet of vertical in 19 miles (one way).

15K in 10 miles would be a 28% grade.

I used to average about 20 miles/day 365 days a year on my street bike, including a lot of steep hills. But I also had no car.

I still think you need to check your zeros. If it's a closed loop, your doing twice that grade when you're climbing. 5 miles on a 45 degree slope?? Even if its not closed, you're hard pressed to find a vertical greater then about 1000 in PA, so your still mixing in alot of downhill.

Most of my rides are only about 15-20 miles, but I'm not trying to be competitive. Most of the mountain trails I do are even shorter than that, not much more than 10 most of the time.
