Riding season is upon us again (at least those of us who have seasons), enthusiasm is building to get back out on the open road.....
This weekend my bike is coming out of hibernation and being dusted off.

Post a pic of your ride.

Here's mine:

Almost forgot, I just ordered new tires. I've got some Dunlop Wide Whitewalls on the way. Should give it even more of a classic look.

1996 Triumph Daytona Super III

did you buy new fausto?

how do you like it?
I bought it with 1400 miles on it, so almost new.

Great, great bike. The 900 triple is a wonderful motor. Sounds cool (and unique), makes plenty of torque (65 ft/lbs IIRC), plenty of HP and doesn't get breathy at the top of the rev range like most twins. Keep the needle above 6,000 rpm and you've got power to spare everywhere. 😀

Also, the attention to detail on the Triumphs is excellent. No corner-cutting anywhere. Even something as small as the the ties to tidy up lines under the body work....most bike just use zip ties, the Tri used nice little metal clips (resuable too). Very, very solidly made bike. I know several people who have put 50,000+ miles on this engine with no problems. Only thing I ever had to do outside of routine maintenace was replace the fork seals once.

Downsides to this particular bike: heavy and long. Also carries it's weight high so no flicking from corner to corner like smaller sport bikes. 100mph sweepers are another story however......it was stable as a rock for that kind of stuff.

One other cool tidbit: since most Triumph owners are older, experienced riders (read: don't crash much) the insurance premiums are very reasonable. I was paying about $350 per year for full coverage for that bike.

There's an unfaired version (the Speed Triple) too that might be up your alley and are very cheap these days. Exactly the same as the Daytona, minus the fairing.

Here's one in black. 5500 miles and only $4200. Cheap as dirt for a well-made 900 IMO.

An orange one for $2995.
