Wow didn't know this activity exist and quite popular. Respect to the guys and gal. I am really itching to just bike around.

I was cycling with a friend of mine a few weeks ago and we came upon two young women on older road bikes with full paniers which of course peaked my curiousity so I slowed down and let them catch up to us and asked them where they were headed. They were both friendly and said they were cycling down from Vancouver to the Mexican border. I was thoroughly impressed and we chatted for a while and then parted ways.

Would be fun to do something like that but getting the time off work would be tough.

I would have bought them lunch. I was reading about a guy who cycled from montana to canada. Cycled through the mountains. I don't know if I can do it.

As someone who headed east on a bicycle with pretty much no preparation, I can say that after a couple weeks of self supported bicycle touring you get amazingly stronger on a bike. First day, fifty flat miles with a strong tailwind helping, nearly killed me. Last week, averaging about 120 miles a day, was easy.

Bikepacking is super fun too.

Alright, you could tour any region in the world. Where to?

I would love to tour the entire west coast, or maybe tour Italy. Either way I'll be happy in wine country 🙂

I've done quite a bit of cycling and self supported touring on the west coast of the USA. My favorite trip, and I'd love to bring my wife on a repeat some day, was a three week supported tour through France and into Switzerland.

Haha only in switzerland where you see a late 60 year old riding uphill on their bikes without effort and the same with women pulling their kids on their bikes going uphill. Just normal everyday thing.

It's a dream of mine too. I try to find new routes locally as much as possible. I live in the country so I can always find isolated back roads to ride on. I just know I'm going in a general direction and go. It's hard keeping enough food or drink on me so I have to plan a stop at a gas station along the way. I've had people ask where I'm going and they seemed shocked that I'm going there on a bicycle. It's one of the few things that I truly enjoy these days.
