Bike Porn

Giant OCR

Just picked it up on eBay this Saturday just gone. Needed new tyres as the old ones were delaminating/squared off. I just did the Bar tape along with the tyres tonight, as you can see in the pic. The chain needs replacing as it's strectched and I have new cables coming from an online store.

Took it out for a blast tonight. Easily quick enough, well, I'm the limiting factor till I get the fitness up to scatch, then I would like to do a super-sprint Triathlon.

Nice bike. Now get that saddle straightened out and get some clipless pedals. You may or may not want to flip that stem depending on comfort.

What are the components? Older 105? Looks like Shimano thumb levers so it isn't Ultegra or Dura-Ace anyway.

Pedals are clipless on one side. I have some double sided Shimano's on order. The saddle is in a test position and was actually very comfortable on the ride earlier, but will certainly change. I have a shorter stem on order and prefer the upswing, but this one will only be 17deg not whatever that thing is.

I would think you'd slide forward on that saddle with it tilted like that.

Nah, I was nicely planted on my 'sit bones'. 🙂

Oh, the grouppo is Shimano Sora. Not great, but it does the trick, for now.

£156 😀

MOFO!

I'm not sure how much £££ to drop on my bike...up to £1250 is my limit. The same one is on ebay but I'm not sure how much to spend on a 6month old bike that is last years model. Not too fussed about last years model as mine was 4yrs old, that I had from brand new, and it rode like a dream!

I'll be hawking that auction. I think £800 tops? But then I'm only saving £450 and that over the lifetime of the bike isn't all that much and getting it new could be better.

I know I could get a cheaper bike to commute in though 😛

What is it you are after? Link me by PM and I promise I won't bid. 😉

DBZ has a sweet Giant bike between his legs!

🙂

Congrats on the purchase. My wal-mart bike shivers and hides in the corner..

DBZ.....if you replace the chain, replace the cassette (the gears on the rear wheel) at the same time. Cassettes and chains usually wear together and if the chain's worn, the cassette probably is, too. Putting on a new chain with a worn cassette will invariably lead to the chain skipping teeth on the cassette, most notably under heavier pedal pressure.

Sound advice. Thanks.
