FWIW- I'd just upgrade the rear der and the shifters to Ultegra. Everything else isn't functionally different enough to justify a whole new grouppo. You can probably find some for semi-cheap on Ebay or something.

Oh.....and go Campy when you do get that new bike. :D

Ahhh. Fausto pops in.

Can I use the new 9 speed Ultegrat Shifters on the Sora Setup? I thought that was a no no.
Is Sora nine-speed? Sorry, I'm not super-familiar with the lower-end Shimano stuff.

:Q What a bike snob... ;) :p

Sora is 8 speed :) My friend's OCR3 has Sora... don't quite like the shifters. :(

Hehe...I've been a Campy guy forever so I guess that makes me a bike snob.

As above, there's not much point in replacing things as you'd essentially have to do the whole drivetrain to get around the 8-speed issue.

Just go with Tiagra... a little cheaper... and its compatible with the other higher groupsets... i think you're better off buying a new bike if youre going to upgrade everything to Ultegra or Dura Ace... :(

Definitely beware of the upgrade bug - I was guilty of this with my first good bike (a Bridgestone MB-3). I upgraded nearly everything on it, and for all the money I spent, I had done very little to increase the actual value of the bike. Any bike that came with Sora probably does not justify much in the way of upgrades (other than things like pedals, that can be transferred to a new bike), and you may be better off just saving your money for a new bike. Even Sora works quite well, and little incremental upgrades are probably not cost-effective over the long haul.
