Argh... I got suckered in by the promise of a $750 box.

My box has a P3/933, 128MB RAM, and an i810E chipset (with the lame video, yes). It has no, I repeat, no, AGP slots. I'm looking for a good PCI video card (with good Linux drivers).

I've heard good things about the Voodoo5, but it's kinda pricey.

Thx for the input. 😎

Go for a PCI TNT2 (Pro, Ultra). I've got one running in my Linux box (AGP though) and its pretty stable. Has terrific X support.

/me slaps himself in the head.

OK, I already have a TNT2 (Vanta, though); it doesn't give good framerates at anything over 640x480. I'm also trying to keep my kernel monolithic (to help me stay sane), so I'm not going to consider using nVidia cards; plus, nVidia is a Microsoft-sympathizing, manufacturer-destroying mess (although I do plan to get an XBox when it comes out and spend the first few weeks I have it slapping together a Linux distro for it).

However, thx for the input (if no better ideas come along, I guess I'll have to give into the nVidia craze...)

voodoo 3's would be nice, alot faster than a vantra. Also the only pci TNT2 cards were M64's witch suck. I beleve the vantra id the buget version of the original tnt.
