If you listen carefully the second guy says negro not n1gger. None the less....I mean no one will accuse me of like Obama but its certainly not because hes black that I dont like him.

Personally if it were a black man I would like to see someone like Mr. Cosby represent the minority ticket. Certainly not Obama.

I see the two as quite similar to be honest....Cosby really isn't some kind of hero in my opinion.

Cosby understands that much of the problems of the black man are brought on by his own actions. This is worlds apart from Obama. Any bets you wouldnt see a "God damn America" or terrorist connections with Cosby as you do with Obama?

Prove the bolded statement. You can't. Obama's own words to the NAACP, just this July -
We have to do more in our own lives, our own families, and our own communities. That starts with providing the guidance our children need, turning off the TV, and putting away the video games; attending those parent-teacher conferences, helping our children with their homework, and setting a good example. It starts with teaching our daughters to never allow images on television to tell them what they are worth; and teaching our sons to treat women with respect, and to realize that responsibility does not end at conception; that what makes them men is not the ability to have a child but the courage to raise one. It starts by being good neighbors and good citizens who are willing to volunteer in our communities - and to help our synagogues and churches and community centers feed the hungry and care for the elderly. We all have to do our part to lift up this country.

Oh yeah, that's "world's apart" from Cosby.

And drop the stupid Wright/Ayers bullshit. It's old and stupid. Falwell said a "God damn America" after 9/11 too, and yet McCain begged him on hands-and-knees for his endorsement in 2006, and Obama has a much "terrorist connections" as McCain is the Manchurian Candidate, meaning none.
Is there a Republican left on this board or anywhere else on the internet that can do anything besides continuously troll the same debunked propaganda over and over again? I want to know... seriously.

Ever seen the movie Gummo?

That taught me all I need to know about people from rural Ohio.

Yeah, and morons who can't understand how to use a ballot taught me all I need to know about Floridians.

I'm sick of all this rural-bashing from the left. It's every bit as intolerant and short-sighted as the anti-intellectualism that has developed on the right. The vast majority of rural folk are intelligent, open-minded people who simply do not desire to live in a city crammed on top of a bunch of other people. I understand that city folk need to grasp at something in order to feel good about the hell-holes they live in, but the anti-rural attitude is getting tedious.

Now you can debate what we are talking about, or you can call me names and make red angry smiley faces.

I watched the entire 7:44 at the link you posted. I heard a lot of Afro-centric comments typical of comments within an African American community, including hopes for the possiblity of the first African American and a lot of hopes that Hillary would win, but I did not hear ONE comment that was anything near the level of racisit and religious bigotry anywhere close to these:

"If he wins, the blacks will take over."

"He's not a christian. This is a christian nation. What is our country gonna end up like?"

"He's related to a known terrorist for one."

"Obama and his wife - I'm concerned that they could be anti-white, and he might hide that."

"I don't like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash... Because we're not."

If that's the best of the worst you've got, go home, and practice. Better yet, go home, and stay there, hiding in well deserved shame.

YOU are a betrayl of everything we were taught was supposed to be good about America. YOU are prime example of what is wrong with our American society, today. :|

Are you sure you arent what is wrong with society? Acting like a child and telling people you disagree with to "go home"?

I love it. You can't come up with jack shit for examples of equivalent examples of bigotry when challenged to so, so as before, you remain silent on the subject and revert to diversions.

If you manage to find any, I'd be glad to denounce them as much as the bigotry shown in the OP's link. So now, it's all on you...

Put the fuck up, or STFU! :|

Agree that blanket rural bashing in itself is stupid - just like bashing any group such as those that like hi-performance cars. Unless you've lived in ohio as I have, defending them is a bit specious. Some are indeed intelligent - like any area in the u.s. - but they are, for the most part, *not* open-minded.

A couple of things I noticed in this clip that were absent from the almost 20 clips of people at Palin rallys...

Nobody threatened the life of McCain..

Nobody stood up to the ignorant people at the Palin rallies. Early in the clip one person said crackers don't care about us and he was challenged.

Nobody made racisl slurs directly at any Republican.

You cannot conclude blacks vote overwelmingly for Obama because he is black. In 1996 Dems already gor 92% of the black vote. Besides early in the Dem primart Hillary got most of the black vot

That's all fine and good. Now if rural folks (note that vast majority of rural folks are not farmers) would pay their own way and quit expecting to have their breeding/schools/roads/health care/utilities subsidized by urban taxpayers then the city slickers might stop looking down on them.

If you were from Ohio you would understand this state a little Better. I live in the NE Cleveland area and do alot of work in the middle rural part of the state all the way down the 71 corridor to Columbus.

There is a major difference between these area's and there are a lot of good people everywhere. But there are alot of ignorant hateful people that are clueless on why the state has declined and has failed to recover economically. We have been in a recession here in ohio for almost 10 years. Only real growth seems to be in the capital of Columbus. The republicans rule for many years has destroyed the state government. The new Democrat Governor hasn't been too exciting so far either

Our biggest priorities over the last 8 years have been Gay Marriage, Conceal and Carry laws, and Casinos.

Im sorry, but alot of Rural Rednecks such as in the video are guilty for the dipshits they sent to Columbus. Im not saying every Rural person is Bad, just the ignorant ones we witnessed here.

Dont get me wrong, In the Cleveland area, the politicians are stupid and corrupt and mostly democratic in the city areas. They are a wreck too.

And Im sorry but I come from Deep Appalachian Rural Roots and appreciate Country people for a lot of things. But their Die hard devotion to Religion, political beliefs, and their choice of Music, all suck bad. They do Cling to Guns and Religion. They are not open minded and feel those three things can solve all their problems.

For those consumed with curiosity about ohio, here's most of a book about the state. It's long but pretty interesting and pretty accurate. Ohio's been in decline since the 1970s. Population has decreased in all cities except columbus, the state capital, located in the center of the state. It has embraced the service economy. It's a shame that this energy couldn't have been located in the more geographically interesting north along lake erie or the south along the ohio river. Maybe the energy is in columbus since there's not much to do there except work.

The locality in which I grew up funded its own schools (in fact, in Ohio it's the rural school districts that fund the urban districts as schools used to be funded solely by the district's property taxes until urban districts complained that they weren't getting enough money because they couldn't get their own districts to pay for schooling).

And aside from Cleveland, Cincy, Columbus, and Toledo, there aren't big urban centers in Ohio (and Toledo is stretching things to call it an urban center). The vast majority of Ohio counties are strictly rural and do not rely on urban centers for their income to fund county/township/local roads, healthcare, or public services/utilities.

But don't let the facts get in your way.

You're talking about ohio, the state between indiana and w.va/pennsylvania? This thread is about race right? Many people in ohio, especially rural, are polite and hate races other than their own. I'm not guessing, I've witnessed it.

And as far as guessing that you're not from ohio, it looks like I was wrong. I'm very, very sorry for that. You're not being specious. I have no interest in guessing or making assumptions about you at the present time.

Because of the overall decline in manufacturing jobs and Ohio's inability to re-structure its economy as a service economy.

I will grant that the Gay Marriage piece is an embarrassment. The government has no business prohibiting homosexuals from getting married.

Concealed Carry is an excellent law and I was delighted that common sense had finally prevailed in my home state when I saw this pass. Washington (where I am now) has had concealed carry since the 1960's and has not seen any additional gun violence as a result. The simple fact is that there is no statistical danger to allowing law-abiding individuals to carry firearms.

Casinos can fall either way; there are reasonable arguments for and against them. However, I do concede that this is not an issue that should be a large priority.

I have never witnessed that among rural people under about 70, though a Pakistani friend of mine did have trouble in downtown Toledo on a couple of occasions.

Do some research on the availability heuristic and the cognitive biases that it can create. The representativeness heuristic, which is related, is also potentially in play here.

I'm not saying that all rural people are open-minded or accepting. Just that it's absolutely ridiculous (and frankly discriminatory) to believe that "most" of them are somehow bigoted. Even if you saw an incident of bigotry once each week, you interact with perhaps 50-100 different people in a week so while the incident stands out, it really only indicates a prevalence of 1-2%. A far cry from "most". I'm willing to grant that 10%, maybe even 20-25% of rural folks are bigoted, but even at 25%, which I believe it a gross over-statement, we're not even close to "most".

Rural property taxes are not funding city schools
