Yeah, because only one album by an artist can be any good. I wont argue about one album being better than any other, but you gave me the impression that Ready to Die was his only good album.

Next time you go to wendy's and they ask you what size frys/drink you want, say "biggie smalls". The look on their face is priceless, especially if you're in the hood.

My company recently shipped out a package to a guy by that name. Although I doubt it's the same guy, the name was funny enough for me to remember it.

I take it by the OP that that guy's some sort of songwriter?

hahahah dude time to crawl out of your cave....
Biggie Smalls aka Notorious B.I.G was arguably the best rapper ever! I wouldn't go that far but him and 2Pac are widely considered to be the East and West side all time best, respectively.

First of all, I'm not a dude, and second of all, I don't follow the rap scene.

Also, I happen to like my cave. It's warm. :)

Overall I liked "Life After Death" more than "Ready to Die". However, "Juicy" was definitely my favorite track from The Notorious B.I.G.

Biggie Smalls = Notorious B.I.G.? Didn't know that. I knew of Notorious B.I.G. but I hadn't "Biggie Smalls" before South Park either.

Early in his career another artist whose career ultimately went nowhere (doesn't that always seem to be the case?) threatened legal action over the name. Same thing happened to "Common Sense" (now Common).

Regarding the albums, he only had two. Cliffs:

- Ready to Die is a classic.

- Life After Death was good (not great)--it suffers from two diseases: "Doublealbumitis", which is an acute swelling of the tracklisting when the very best material could be condensed down to a single disc (Jay-Z more or less acknowledged its existence when he put out the Blueprint 2.1 album, a best-of compilation from the double-disc Blueprint 2); and "The-Album-Is-Legendary-Because-It-Was-Released-Posthumously-But-Maintains-The-
Original-Vision-Of-The-Artist Syndrome", a common affliction where the media canonizes the album regardless of its merit (The Source: 5 mics). They tried this with Aaliyah's last album too but that didn't catch on as well.

- Born Again does not count, period. There's only a handful of truly unreleased material in this posthumous mashup; most real fans of Biggie recognize Shyne on ad-libs ("Dead Wrong"), verses originally circulated as freestyles ("Come On"), or in some extreme cases, cannibalized from other fully-released songs (like "Rap Phenomenon" vs. "Keep Your Hands High" by Tracey Lee). Nice try, Puffy, I had this album before you even conceived it.

- Duets... ugh. see above.

Like most Firebird drivers, he has an exhaust leak he is contending with.

somehow you really didn't have to follow the rap scene to hear about Notorious BIG or 2Pac...you did have to come out from under a rock from time to time.

Here's my ordering of his albums

Life After Death > Ready to Die > Born Again

Some songs to take note of:

I Got a Story to Tell - Life After Death
Dead Wrong - Born Again
Juicy - Ready to Die
Notorious Thugs ft. Bone Thugs n' Harmony - Life After Death
