3 years ago I got a 10% bump... ONLY because of how I negotiated my position. They couldn't pay me what I asked in the interview, but I was assured that I would be properly paid the next year when raises happened. Sure enough, they did what they said they would.
EDIT: This was after getting a 20% bump the previous year when I moved into the new postion.
After I left the Air Force in early 2005 I started at a pretty modest salary, then got a 15% raise after about 6 months. I got another 15% raise about a year after that, an 8% raise a few months later, then another 10% about 8 months after that. At this point I make 66% more than I did less than 3 years ago, and have also made mid-5 figures in bonuses over the last year and a half.
Many years ago, I asked for and received a 15% raise when my coworker (a fellow system admin on different systems) bailed right in the middle of the ERP system upgrade with less than 4 weeks notice. The exec's and CFO (my boss) were very nervous about me leaving too, so I probably could have asked for more considering how quickly they agreed (next day).
My biggest increase was in 1984. I was earning ~$35,000 per year as a very junior systems engineer for IBM and I took a promotion to marketing rep on a small account geographic territory. The first year as a marketing rep I earned ~$75,000 so the increase was a little better than 100%.
I once got 2 raises each being $2/hr. two weeks apart. I went from $9/hr to $13/hr.
I still can hear my boss's thick German accent, "Jesus Christ, Craig you were in here two weeks ago. I think you are getting addicted to this."
Basically, after I got the first raise I found out what some of my coworkers were making and these coworkers were doing so even though I had much more responsibilities and was putting out much more work.
About 11%. My company pays you crap when yo ustart and after 6 months of a "probationary period" they boost your pay to more normal rates. It's sad as I am a software engineer.
