Biggest playoff chokers?

When you think of the playoffs and its chokers, what name comes to mind first?

That is, guys that are unstoppable in the regular season, but once the real stuff comes around, he's nowhere to be found..

We have.. Mr. April Alex Rodriguez, the man who was fired after a 14-2 season Mary Shot, the greatest regular season QB Dan Marino..or, someone else?

You mean the A-Rod that pretty much single handedly beat Minnesota in the 2004 ALDS or the only player that could hit the Yankees in the 2000 ALCS?

Or the A-Rod that brought the Yankees back within three runs with his solo HR this postseason?

Please stop blindly accepting everything you read in the media.

How about the entire 2005 New York Yankees Org.

Up 3-0 against the BoSox with a trip to the WS on the line???!!!

That is the biggest Playoff Choke in the history of sports!

You watched PTI last night didn't you? I saw that Mr. April comment on their too.

Cheers

I'm forced to agree! 🙁

(also a huge fan)

i like dirk...but i'd have to say he's a choker. although you can add t-mac and kg to that list, they've never had a team as good as the mavs are.

Since the label "choker" is usually based on some enduring image rather than actual facts, how about Zinedine Zidane - 2006 World Cup. Crippling your team, dashing the hopes of an entire nation, and permanently soiling your legacy with one headbutt FTW.

Except France won in 1998 with Zidane scoring 2 goals 😕
Zidane's not a choker, he's just a badass going out with style.

That's sort of my point, if you're characterized in a certain way based on a limited data set, or have a particularly bad moment in a critical game, people tend to just replay that visual in their head and ignore a lot of the good things you did before.

Zidane's not a choker, but I wouldn't call that going out in style, heh. That was perhaps the most boneheaded thing I've ever seen in a championship game in any sport.

Peyton Manning. Even though he did win a SB, he was horrible in the playoffs (just like every playoffs he's been in) and tried his best to lose. If it wasn't for his defense stepping up last year and carrying the team, he would be ringless still.

I don't think I'd ever use the term badass to describe a soccer player.

ND football, for a while now. They usually have a respectable season and get into a bowl, where they are promptly demolished by anyone they play.
