oh and they took away the water cooler.

what's yours?

Why don't you set a rule to have all emails automatically archived into your HDD and delete from inbox? That's what I do... I too have a ridiculously small size limit but not 40MB small.

This chair I sit in for hours a day. It has scanty padding for my buttockal area and the back is loose and constantly falls out of adjustment. Either sit bolt upright or with extreme slouching; no comfortable medium.

im the same way. i even walk out back (its nice and empty back there) to talk on my cell when im at home, my kids think im hiding shit from them lol

This, or people who shriek across the office, talk loud on speakerphone, or browse the internet all day instead of working.

Work Peeve #1: At work I use a product called Websphere Integration Developer (excellent product by the way )...and any one of the 5 projects I work on weekly contains on average of 40 modules each. Every time I have to change workspaces (for a different project, usually once a day), I connect to Rational Clearcase (version control system) to refresh and pull the previous day/nights changes, and I clean/build the workspace....no biggie right? Well it takes approximately 3+ hours to clean/build the entire thing (too many schema's to be validated). I have a love-hate relationship with SOA.

Work Peeve #2: Too many talkative coworkers who treat work like a cheap soap opera.

Second one is people looking into your cube at you when they walk by. WTF are they looking? I am either in my chair looking at my monitors, maybe some paper or not at my desk. Do they think one day I'll be wearing a clown costume and giving out balloon animals or something?

This isn't someone just walking by and glancing in or anyone I even talk to on a regular basis, but in my peripheral vision (I have good peripherals for checking out the hotties. No, this one is not a hottie. If I could, I'd rather not see her in any part of my range of vision) I can see them actually turn their head and stare into my cube as they walk by. WTF do they want? Do they do this to all the other cube dwellers?

they want that bag of oreos you have on your desk...

When people (usually managers) get so uptight about small server outages that only last like 1-5 minutes. Why can't I just do a quick reboot and be done with it? Nobody is going to notice, if they do, I just tell them to wait 5 minutes. :p

Oh, and budget excuses to not order stuff that would greatly improve productivity, but yet they turn around and spend 5 times more on something then they should. In fact where I work there are millions of dollars worth of random equipment in the closet just because it was ordered for projects that never ended up taking off due to IT politics getting complicated and then halting the project. Sadly lot of it ends up in the trash. Some of it is not even useful by today's standards, such as a rack mount P3 server that's never been used.

that we change managers every few months. It destroys any type of relationship you try to build with your manager.

Ass-kissers.

Management asking for ideas, but then when we give them they don't listen to any.

My biggest pet peeve is incompetent coworkers that you depend on for information, to do your work, who act like giving you the pertinent information any time before the actual event deadline is ok. As if anything the customer wants is kept in my back pocket waiting to be presented in a moments notice.

Haven't started at my new place yet, but I already know that they very heavilly block "fun" sites. Even hotmail was blocked 2 years ago when I went there for an interview, and wanted to get info out of my email.

total mailbox size limited to 16 meg, have virtually no internet access other than the company site, and you have to just about mug someone for a parking spot if you don't come in about 2 hours early.

Those are my major hates, but not in that order.

Makes me not wanna work. I think I understand why so many people decide to be welfare leeches. Lot less bullshit to put up with.

people who complain about other people not getting their work done but don't follow their own advice.
