So I realize that in past BL's, folks have lost double digits, but not back to back to back like this.

Eric is looking great.
Doc says he's doing great.

I can't imagine they'd jeopardize anybody's health and even pushed to physical extremes, I'm sure they're healthier than they are at their original weights living their original lifestyles, but........

Eric's lost 12lbs/week, how many weeks in a row now???

Current trends say 2lbs/week is best. Obviously we all want to lose weight faster than that and some do (sure, some don't) but I'd think that 5lbs per week would be a pretty high #.

Wonder what the doctors on the show would have to say???

Do they do drug tests for that show? If not, I can think of many ways to accomplish that...

I was reading something about it. They are on very low calorie diets (sub 1500 if I recall correctly) and are practically exercising full time. They are under constant medical supervision to ensure they are doing well...probably not the best idea to try and lose that much weight that fast.

Well.. that guy was over 400 lbs, right? It isn't really difficult to figure out..
His base metabolic rate (calories needed to maintain current weight at sedentary lifestyle) is probably around 4000 calories ( or more).

If he's cutting his daily calorie intake to sub-1500 levels, he's creating a calorie deficit of 2500 a day; and that is without exercise. Add the exercise in and his calorie deficit becomes greater.

The guy will eventually get to a point where he will not be losing 12 lbs/week. It will eventually taper off into more of a normal weight loss figure. Excessively heavy/obese people lose weight quickly at first, since they obviously have alot of fat, so it isn't that difficult.

I have no idea what you are talking about...but at 12/week 20 bucks says they will gain it all right back. That fast of weight loss doesn't nurture proper eating and exerscising habits. The best way to lose weight is to lose it slowly.

Except this isn't *at first*.

This is over 2 months into the game!

Despite the fact that he's creating a huge caloric deficit, I would still have to imagine that he's losing a ton of muscle at this point.

As for the weight coming back, there's another conflict of interests.

The trainers on the show (and I assume the docs) overly stress the importance of making sure the weight *doesn't* come back on. (a few weeks ago Bob was yappin' up a storm about what he sees and how he knows when weight is coming back on and how to prevent it).

I, however, would agree that huuuuuge and rapid weight loss like this can't be promoting a long-term effect. (imho)

well i burn roughly 10,000+ calories from running along a week. so that right there is about 3 pounds of fat. but im still the same weight because i eat very healthly. the moral of this post was just to say you can easily lose more then 2 pounds a week and still be healthy
