sigh we played well for most of the game. mcrobert's foul trouble hurt us since Zoubek feels the need to travel constantly. 3 days spent waiting outside. but still a wonderful experience.
McBob travels quite often, as does "Short Bus" Hansbrough for UNC, but neither is ever called for it.
I remember a video from earlier this season showing McBob catching the ball, then taking literally 8 steps before shooting, with the ref right behind him and no call.

go VT. we beat them both 🙂

Heck yes! VT represent!

nc state also beated them both.
If you mean VT and UNC, yes. We did not beat Dook.

VT beat Duke AT Duke in OT! First Home OT loss for Coah K since the 80's baby! First time since 2003 that a team beat Duke and UNC in the same week!

Funny how ESPN and Dick Vitale has made this game so big nationally, when it isn't even the biggest game in NC. And before the early 90's, this game wasn't even significant nationally. Then again, before the 90's, or at least the late 80's, Dook wasn't an elite team. K didn't have them rolling yet.

Tell me then, what exactly is the biggest BB game in NC if it isn't UNC vs Duke?

For UNC fans and NC State fans, it the State/Carolina game. This isn't even remotely debatable in any sport except basketball.
I'm talking native North Carolinians and alumni. The State/UNC game has always been the biggest game in the state, and it always will.
State's hard times after Jimmy V. was wrongly run off is the only thing that let the Dook/UNC game in the conversation.
The ACC was ALWAYS dominated by State and UNC until K got Dook rolling. Dook was a distant 3rd on the ACC totem pole until the early 90's.
ESPN and Dook Vitale is what has made this game big nowadays. It's really much more of a national game than a local game...oh, it's a big one because both teams are good, but if you want to know who the UNC fans really HATE...watch which football, baseball, etc. games they show up to...it won't be the Dook games.
And when Sidney Lowe has State back rolling in a couple of years, the hoops game will be even more important.

Edit: Ask Roy Williams which team is their rival. He'll say State. Matt Doherty said the same thing. Dean Smith will tell you the same thing. Michael Jordan will, too.
