What? Afraid I'm going to pass down the art of MIND BLOWINGLY ASTUTE observation to my kids? Like how Super Metroid is the EXACT SAME GAME as Metroid? Or how the gameplay in Tetris is horribly one-dimensional (high hopes for Tetris for 3DS tho - heard it'll add at least two more dimensions of gameplay).

But yes, being facetious. Video gamers have an inexplicable need to vehemently defend their views on what games are good and what games suck (myself included). If video gamers were world leaders, World War 3 would be about which Final Fantasy was the best.

I was responding to this...

The story in this game sucked also.

To which, well, there wasn't much to say, if you were being serious.

Of course, I now am able to see the humor in your post, based on some of the other, more ridiculous posts in this thread.

This thread just goes to show how varied people's opinions are about games. I thought it was a joke thread at first.

Super Mario Sunshine was admittedly a small disappointment when I first played it but has grown to become one of the best games of the Gamecube library. Completely disagree that it is devoid of any charm. The jump levels were pure genius.

I feel badly for the people that think OoT is the best game ever, yet somehow dislike Majora's Mask. =(

Assuming that I think that OoT is the best game ever is wrong.

Simply put, Majora's Mask was a disappointment to me after loving Zelda: OT so much.

What the Fuck? How is this linear corridor shooter, with gimmicky physics, a Bland, Shallow, Generic story(Aliens Invade Earth! again...), and Horrible gameplay at the top of almost every pc gamers' list? It's Shit! You paid 50$ for the game in 2004 and now you're paying 20$ every few years for more DLC? Excuse me episodic content. It's like whatever valve does no matter how shitty is always excused by the goddamn fanbase. But as soon as another developer does it it's scorned! And don't get me started on the countless retconning. Retcons are why I don't read American Comics anymore. One Issue the main character dies. The next it never happened!

portal series

Seriously This game is shit. Another gimmick over extended to the point of absurdity. And yet the hipsters shit themselves all over when portal is brought up in a conversation. Oh look I made a cake Joke I must be an internet nerd! No story, No gameplay, Just gimmicks! Stop kissing valves fat ass they're not your friends! They're no better than EA/Activision. Zero day DLC, Zero Gameplay, Zero fucking reason to innovate. Oh look it's source it must be great!

I'm sick of the valve fanboys. They act just like mac users. Spouting the same nonsensical shit as apple fanboys do. Fuck the source engine! Who gives a fuck about what engine a game is on. Source is a piece of shit compared to Unreal. Source can't scale well for large maps. Source was designed with Intel Integrated Graphics in mind. Yes you can play hl2 on a 2004 dell with Intel gma 900. Doesn't mean you should be shitting yourselves about how great source is. Source needs to die.

GTA 4

It didn't have 1/10 the fun of the previous GTA games. Oh look I can make realistic people with brown and bloom! Gameplay? What's Gameplay? Where are the shit awesome vehicles from SA and VC? Where's the awesome guns? Where is the fucking Open sandbox gameplay that I loved from the GTA series?

Bad Company 2

Another fucking console port. BC2 is an over inflated arena game ported to the PC with no concern for the KBM.

Halo

Fucking shit killed PC gaming.

Because the gaming forums shouldn't have been segregated and there's no reason to make the exact same thread in PC gaming just so you won't get confused. That would be cross posting.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
WORST STORY EVER. tried to play through it but the story was TEDIOUS AND BORING. there's like 10 people in the entire game you can talk to and only two of them have names. ABSOLUTELY ZERO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

Super Mario Kart
I dunno why anyone would play this game when the cars in F-zero go like a million times faster. BTW the story also sucked in this game!!!!

Golden Eye 007
The lack of online play really killed this game. What was Nintendo thinking????

Super Mario Galaxy
You would think going from super mario WORLD to super mario GALAXY would mean BIGGER LEVELS

It was pretty unique for it's time. Back then those physics were unheard of. The gameplay videos shown before release blew people's minds more than the BF3 ones are today. I think anyone who was let down by HL2 is in pretty small company.

That's true. I don't think HL2 was a letdown. I mean, I enjoyed it a ton when I first played it. But I don't feel it has aged as well as most people do. Then again, criticizing it for being generic seems like saying Seinfeld Is Unfunny.

I didn't really start PC gaming until 2003 ish with Counter-Strike, even then it was pretty few and far between. I was mostly disappointed with Doom 3.

Now that I think about it, I haven't played enough games to have an opinion.

Not being serious.

Got to the post where someone said something about Gears of War being stupid because one button does everything and I assumed that this thread was about stupid reasons to think a game is stupid, so I contributed.

Granted, there are legitimate reasons to hate on Gears of War, and maybe the poster just did not convey his point in the clearest way, but I just thought it was funny to complain that "one button does everything" when I'm pretty damn sure every button on the xbox controller is mapped to something useful.

Fear not, friend! I hear in Gears of War 3, the 'A' button does NOT do everything, and instead, to enter cover, you have to press the button on the controller matching the color of the object you're trying to take cover under. to jump OVER cover, press down on the left stick to lean weight backwards, then thrust up with right stick to move your momentum over the wall. to go LEFT around cover, rotate left stick in a CLOCKWISE direction, to go RIGHT around cover, rotate right stick in a COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction. rotate BOTH sticks at the same time in OPPOSITE directions and do a CHICKENDANCE to confuse enemies! To walk you will have to independently control your left leg and right leg - the left analog stick controlling left leg, right analog stick for right leg. Left trigger = crouch, Left bumper = stand on tippy toes. Right trigger = prone. Right bumper = BRAND NEW position that falls somewhere between prone and crouch. Press both analog sticks inward to BREAKDANCE. Hold down right trigger and press in left analog stick to "Number 1" on a dead enemy, hold down left trigger and press in right analog stick to "Number 2." Also, BRAND NEW game mechanic for opening doors. Press in left analog stick while holding down left trigger and left bumper to initiate DOOR KNOB AIMING MODE. Aim your right hand using the right trigger. When your right hand is hovering above the door knob, press right trigger and right bumper at the same time to grab in, triggering the exciting DOOR KNOB TURNING MINIGAME. rotate the right analog stick clockwise to try turning the door knob clockwise, rotate counter clockwise to turn door knob counter clockwise. If the door is locked, it triggers the DOOR UNLOCKING MINIGAME. Hold down 'A', 'B', 'X', and 'Y' to bring up your KEYS menu. Select the KEY you want to try to use on the door (there are over 1,000 keys found in the game!) and insert the KEY in the BRAND NEW KEY INSERTION MINIGAME. rotate the key along the x axis using the right analog stick and rotate the key along the y axis using the left analog stick, using the required KINECT ACCESSORY, rotate your head to rotate the key along the z axis. BEWARE - some keys may not exactly fit the lock, JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE and require some "jiggliing" to trigger the lock mechanism! bob your head up, down, left, and right using the KINECT accessory to jiggle the key while it is in the lock! ......

I should get back to work.

It's all in the technique! First go like this, spin around. Stop! Double take three times. One, two three. Then pelvic thrust. Whooooooo, whooooooo. Stop on your right foot, don't forget it! Now it's time to bring it around town. Bring-it-a-round-town. Then you do this, then this, and this, then this, then that, then this and that, and then...

I would add SW: Rebellion (PC) and Fable (XBX) to the list. Shit games that could have been fantastic...

1) Mario 64... I liked the 3D idea, i just think it should have been more mario-esc... It was the first mario game in a series, which lacked Super Mario powerups...
Fireflower, Tanooki, Hammer, etc. It should have been much more like SMG, but in the mushroom kingdom.

2)Every command and conquer after Yuri's revenge. EA really screwed up westwood.

3)Starfleet Command 3... Progress peaked at Orion Pirates. there were some nice new features, but the game took a significant step back.

4)Sim city Societies... Sim City 4 was a Godsend... Then EA bought maxis and did a repeat of westwood.

All of the new Sonic Games.

Every time one comes out I think "maybe they will get it right this time" but they somehow they fuck it up. Like making him a werewolf...

Have you seen the new Sonic Generations? I saw a bit of a teaser thing on IGN earlier. They said they thought the game was great from what they saw, and that there will be a preview on Monday. I think their words were, "the first correct 3D sonic on 2D stages... and no werehogs!"

... and that they only have a month left to screw it up.

EDIT:

Here's the video:
