Yeah, what kind of photo work? Print stuff or just digicam pics/web stuff/etc?

Nothing real involved...just downloading, editing and printing stuff taken with an Olympus C-5050 or the wife's Toshiba. Don't do any web work or professional-level items.

Ok, so then no huge performance bottlenecks there. I still recommend a monitor or some other non-performance related stuff. Keyboard or mouse getting old and worn out? 🙂 Stuff like that. Or maybe some more storage, or dvd burner, speakers, etc.

What would you do w/ another CPU? That would give you like, ZERO performance gain. Unless you have some kinda crazy dual P4 mobo I don't know about. You won't really see a gain w/ 2gb of ram either...

Get a new video card... or speakers, or a monitor. Both of your options suck.

Agreed.

LOL...well i think its unanimous. the CPU or memory upgrade is worthless. its a store credit, so you can hold on to it for a while, correct? well if you cant find anything worth upgrading (like the aformentioned monitor or video card), why don't you hold on to it until the "next big thing?"

<grin> Agreed! Think I'll look at the vid card, and maybe a fancy new flat screen monitor to go with it. Thanks to everyone for their input and suggestions....just what I was looking for.

Best,
Bill

Update:

Thanks for all the input and suggestions. Just got an ATI 9800 Pro w/128 megs memory, and still have a few dollars left for something else. Haven't installed it yet, but I'll get to that this weekend.

Thanks again!
Bill

Don't really need a trade-in. If you want to buy it outright, I'll sell it cheap...PM me with an offer.
