There is little voter fraud in the United States. Republicans have long sought to limit the voting strength of its Black, Latino and Native American or younger citizens by shutting down state offices close to minority areas that offer required I.D.'s.
The Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University School of Law issued a report called “The Truth About Voter Fraud.” This investigative summary found that most reported incidents of voter fraud are actually traceable to other sources, such as clerical errors or bad data matching practices, the report said.
The report reviewed elections that had been meticulously studied for voter fraud, and found incident rates between 0.0003 percent and 0.0025 percent. Given this tiny incident rate for voter impersonation fraud, it is more likely, the report noted, that an American “will be struck by lightning than that he will impersonate another voter at the polls.”
So, Imported Taj_Mahal, your worries about voter fraud are overblown.
Because the real problem is Voter Suppression, stopping legal and eligible U.S. citizens from casting a ballot by closing voting sites or moving them miles away from places where it is known citizens don’t own a lot of cars.
Or simply lopping off hundreds of thousands of voters from the state rolls of bonafide voters , usually supporters of the Dem Party, of course by falsely claiming they moved, died or never voted. Or worse, owe money.
