Any idea of a ballpark on how much 2000 GB/month would cost? Doesn't need to be super reliable, just there most of the time.

People, for personal use it might be a lot, however there are plenty of sites that easily use up 2TB a month of bandwidth. Its not a very unreasonable request....

You don't know what his intensions are. He could want to host several sites, or start a hosting business. Several of my shared servers peak at about 1600GB a month, so stretching that to 2TB shouldn't be too hard.

Just to give you an idea, that is approximately what it takes to host 20-25 full episodes of Top Gear for a month.

$250 at least.

You will need a dedicated server and someone to manage it. Check out http://theplanet.com or google for ezzi.net resellers.

Agreed and also check out WHT's forums.

I helped a few clients get dedicated servers with GNAX and ServerMatrix, they seem to be really happy so far.

Yup, I'll second GNAX.

SM is the cheaper version of The Planet but they don't offer 2TB, only 1.2TB

Thanks for all links guys, but it's way too much money for what it would be used for. I was expecting more like $50-$75/month. Didn't realize that pretty much a dedicated server would be needed.

I was going to suggest serveroutsource.net's unlimited bandwidth service [$149/month for a 10 Mbps connection (works out at 3000 GB/month) and a fairly average celeron server]. However, it appears their web site is dead, so make of that what you will.

The 4000 GB of bandwidth is measured as equal in and out. (2000 GB out + 2000 GB in)

I know a few people with jhosts, they are happy with them.
