I find it funny that most people think they flew all alone. What about all the staff that came with them. How about the fact that there time is worth more than the cost of a private jet verses them sitting in an airport waiting for their flight to take off?
BTW, I don't think lending the Big 3 any amount of money will save their companies.

Ok, so let me get this straight. You made $21MM last year while not being able to fix one damn thing at Ford and the company is nearing penny stock status and you think you're OK where you're at?
Sure sparky.

Yup. If a CEO makes $10 million, their time is worth $4807/hr assuming a standard 40 hour work week (of course a CEO's job never really ends, but 40 hours is the standard so I used that). Flying coach, while an appropriate punishment, is not cost-effective. When you add in the fact that they rarely travel alone, private planes make even more sense. A private jet saves money.
Do these guys deserve to make whatever they're making when their companies are failing? Probably not, but good luck finding someone who is capable of turning around a billion dollar corporation who will work for $100k/yr.

Ask the Senators and Congressmen that grilled them how many times they've been on said corporate jet. I'm guessing they won't want to answer.

The point about their hourly pay is important, but in the case of the Big3 these guys seem to not be helping much, so in fact it may be possible to argue that the more time they spend on the tarmac in coach next to a screaming kid, the better their company will do.
In any case, I don't imagine they stayed in a $120/night room, either.

That is disingenuous. Buffet makes his money from his investments. CEO's do this as well and you guys piss and moan about them when they cash in.

Well, if you paid the guys in stock and $100,000 salaries instead of $20M, seems like it'd be a bigger incentive for them to get the stock price up...

Because, when a company has R&D for new cars that can last 5+ years before a new platform is introduced, it's perfectly reasonable to expect a company to turn itself around immediately.
I also love the insinuation that Ford hasn't turned around at all. The Focus is a great car. The Fusion bests or matches anything Japan has to offer. The redesigned Taurus is a great car. Of course, no-one bothers to take note of those things.

Buffet started his company with his own sweat, blood and tears. He's an entrepeneur just like the Bill Gates of this world. He deserves his billions. Most of these retard CEO have NEVER started a business of their own. They are in their CEO position because of their network, not because they bring something to the table. It's an old boys club of me-know-you and they rape companies and shareholder for millions.
