On Pricewatch, 1Gb, 2Gb and 4Gb peices of RAM are advertised there. Will these work on a regular motherboard, or do you have to have some sort of weird server type mobo?

they're meant for servers only!
 
Usually motherboards these days destined for PCs can take up to 512 MB per stick, so yeah, those sticks are definitely meant for servers.

My poor old MVP3 motheboard can only take 128 MB per stick. 🙁 But I'm upgrading soon. 🙂
