I want to get a new video card, but unsure if the size in RAM makes very much difference. I don't do any gaming, but alot of 3D modeling and rendering. any suggestions?

There's actually no difference between 32Mb and 64Mb cards on Q3, other 3D games won't get big advantage either. However if you play 2D it will use extra video memory for surfaces.
If you mostly work with 3D... 3D Studio MAX doesn't seem to work faster with +32Mb, but other software may use it for acceleration.
Also I'm not sure what video card you have in mind, if it's MX400 I think you should take 64Mb version because of tiny price difference.

i was thinking about a visiontek ti200. i have an annihilator 2 with 64 meg DDR now, that works pretty well. not sure if is the best for 3dstudio and other programs though. don't use it for gaming.

Some games will make use of the extra memory, others wont. Generally it wont come in to play until you reach the higher resolutions. If it isn't much more go with a 64 megger, if only because they are easier to sell later on :)
