I have the AMD Athlon X2 4400 CPU. I also have the MSI K8N Diamond Motherboard.

Along with the board came some software called Core Center. This software displays the processor speed.

I have noticed that it only shows that the 4400 is only 2211 MHz. Above, it states the following;

200 MHz x 11.0

Shouldn't my system be running at 4400 MHz?? I read that the X2 cpu's run at double the speed, e.g. my cpu, which is a 2.2 MHz, runs at twice the speed, making it 4400 MHz.

Have I done something wrong?

Uh, the 4400+ is a marketing rating. You have two 2200 Mghrtz processors which add up to the 4400+ rating. Of course there is very little chance of ever doubling a multi-threaded application's performance on dualcore (usually 50-90%).

Edit: Of course the 4400+ comes from the 1meg L2 cache on each core.
The 4200+ is also two 2200Mghrtz processors but they only have 512K L2 cache per core.

Second edit: I also have a 4400+ but it is running at 2730 (each core) for a theoretical 5460+ rating :Q

The supposed rating that AMD gives all their procs is based upon performance compared to a 1 GHz Thunderbird, but really is supposed to be a rough equivalent to a Pentium 4. Most AMD 64 procs are a little faster than this, the XPs were a little slower at the end...but don't worry, your proc is running at the proper speed.
