Ok, certainly not my 1st fresh build and not my 1st k7s5a.
here is the setup

Enlight 7237 300w amd aproved
Athlon xp 1600
k7s5a-newest official bios
WD 40Gb ata 100 7200rpm drive
gen floppy
cyberdrive 16x burner

Crucial 128mb pc133

This rig is for a friend:

Miserable time getting this thing set up. First no power anywhere, then took out the stock enlight stand offs and put in left overs from Antec.
Then CD wouldnt power, plugged and unplugged few times, now powers everytime no problem.

BIG problem is not finding the HD. The bios will finally now recognize it, but when I go to Fdsik, it says it can't because there is no fixed disk. EVERY time it boots it says "HDD ERROR" hit f1 to resume. WTF?

Could the 300W enlight be the problem or the mobo itself?

I built a k7s5a with a 1.2 tbird with a cheapo codegen 300W supply and no problems there. Thought it was primary IDE channel, switched cable. Then set up HD as Master on Sec and Cd as slave on Sec. Still will not fdisk!

Swapped another HD, brand new maxtor 20Gb. SAME damn thing HELP. This is driving me CCCCRAZY!!!!!
See, its even making me stutter!

Have you tried playing with the jumpers on the hard drive? If that's not the problem don't rule out that it's not the board. You may have gotten lucky the first time, I know I did.

yup, played with jumpers. And this isn't the 2nd k7s5a either. It is the 5th or so. My secondary rig is 1 with an xp 1700@ 1800 speeds and is running perfect! I have another 1 here I may swap out tomorrow. This is one big PITA!
