Big Preview of Ghostbusters Game

Graphics whores will also be pleased to hear that Ghostbusters will run at 1080p with full-screen anti-aliasing on both Xbox 360 and PS3. In fact, Mark Randel, the founder of Terminal Reality and its chief technologist, made it very clear that the game is truly being developed in parallel across the three platforms. The studio has spent plenty of time learning the ins and outs of the PS3 hardware, he told us, learning how to "talk to the metal," and as a result, PS3 development proceeds abreast with PC and 360, as opposed to lagging behind. Cross-platform development was been built into the engine from day one, and that even scales across to PS2, PSP and Wii.

Yay!

About the only disappointment that came out of the trip was the indication that, while the team is "still evaluating the possibility," it's unlikely the game will have co-op throughout the campaign. According to Drew, if the team were to go away from co-op, the rationale "would be that we so much want the experience to be you joining the Ghostbusters for the first time, and all the other characters are so indelibly that character, so I guess we would have to have two new guys as the Ghostbusters recruits? that bakes back down what our core resolution is? you get to be a Ghostbusters but at the same time you get to experience and see the Ghostbusters interacting the way they are." Personally, we'd be more than happy to pretend to be Bill Murray in this game.

Oh noes!

Ya, after reading about how they are doing the story in the latest Game Informer, it might be hard to do co-op and keep the story, which I'm fine with. Overall, the game looks fantastic, let's hope it plays fantastic, too. Great news for PS3 owners so far in that it sounds like nobody will get the short end of the stick.
