Big, permanent knot on head...

When I was in the 8th grade, I was leaning back in a chair, and an asshole classmate used his foot to make me fall over backwards. I hit the back of my head on the dry-erase board's metal pen holder shelf dealie. The position on my head is about 1'o clock (looking at your head from the side).

Anyway, it really hurt, and the guy got in trouble, so it was all good. I didn't think it was any big deal at the time, besides the knot on my head. The thing is, it never went away. It was almost completely numb for years.. I can kinda feel a little when I touch it now, but it's more like a pressure than an actual touching sensation. But it is very pronounced.. I'd say its about an inch in diameter and raised about 1/4 an inch above the surrounding scalp. It isn't a cosmetic issue, I have such thick hair that you can't see it. But I was just wondering...

Is it normal for this to happen? What causes it? Is it like some sort of bone regrowth or something?

We always knew there was something different about you.

But really, have you ever had a Dr. check it out? it might be worth looking into. 😀

Nice, a shot like that will definatly cause brain damage.
That would explain many of your posts! 😉

Your body obviously reacted to the trauma from the fall and has deposited something to protect the area. Once I jumped from a height of about 15 ft while drunk and my foot turned purple and black. I had it x-rayed, but there were no fractures. Years later there's still a hard bump on the top of my foot.

😛

Just to clear it up, it isn't on the far-back side of my head, where it gets softer. It's on the very back edge of the crown where it starts to slope down.

Even better, then your brain would have smashed up against the skull like an older F150 in a crash test.

Isn't the back where most of the important brain stuff is tho, lik the cerebellum? lol

It wasn't really a big deal at the time. I mean I didn't black out or anything. Saw stars... bright green, shot right out of the side of my head.. That was kinda weird..

It would've effected my parietal lobe..

An injury to this lobe may cause:

inability to name an object
inability to locate words for writing
difficulty reading
difficulty drawing objects
problems differentiating left from right
difficulty doing mathematics
lack of awareness of body parts and space
difficulties with hand and eye coordination

I don't have any of those problems, lol.. except being able to draw.. but I've never been able to draw, heh.

I don't think I suffered any real brain damage, it was probably a mild to moderate concussion at worst.. But the bump thing has always puzzled me.

I have a permanent knot from Thanksgiving when my little cousin threw a ping pong paddle at my head. its small, but there is a distinct bump there.

We should start a club.

You broke the barrier that contains the fluid in your skull, you have a deposit of brain fluid outside the membrane, it can be removed, it isn't that uncommon.
