I'm flipping through tv channels and I've seen this show a few times before. This show is completely off the wall, even for me, and I usually love any anime I see. Maybe this is just the exception to the rule for me, or maybe I'm missing something big in the series. Can anyone give me any insight into the series that would open my eyes?

What is so trippy about it? This is what really separates a lot of the "serious" animes form the US sitcoms/TV shows: there's a single story arc that actually progresses through the entires series. You really need to sit down and watch the whole damn thing before you get it, unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it.

Exactly. There is a story, that won't make much sense if you just see random snippets in no particular order.

It's also a stylized and retro series, as opposed to more "realistic" anime like Lain, Akira or Ghost in the Shell.

I enjoyed it, and am glad they've made a second series of it.

I thought you were talking about the commercials on TechTV.

This rather attractive, though older, lady appears on the screen and asks "Have you found the big O?" in a somewhat sultry voice. And since, at this point, she has your attention, she starts talking about overstock.com

People actually watch dubbed anime by choice?
I haven't watched a dubbed anime (when given the option of watching the subbed version) in forever. The only time I watch dubbed anime is when I watch it with other people that aren't interested in learning Japanese (i.e. most of my friends who enjoy anime).

to give a quick summary of the concept, Big O is similar to animated batman, except instead of dressing up like a bat..man... he gets into a giant robot. It's also has a "take back the power from the government" theme... but I haven't watched it enough to confirm that.

And may or may not be human, forgot stuff, and may not even exist, depending on how you interpret it (I've been thinking about getting it and watching it subbed...maybe that wierd stuff will sort itself out with more literal translations).
