Big Lots stores have wireless headphones for $19.99.
Unwired 3000IR.
Certainly not the greatest (or even near), but if you have a relative who is hard of hearing and has to have the TV blasting - they can use these and have the volume as loud as they want while the rest of the people enjoy regular volume (yes!) - or if you want to listen to the tv in bed and your partner doesn't and you don't want that headphone cord draped all over the sheets - or if you want to listen to a little music while working on the treadmill, $19.99 seems nice!

Just kidding, thanks for all the examples of potential applications.

sigh, was hoping for a 900mhz frequency, but i know i was pushing my luck with a $20 wireless headphone. i want a good sounding pair, but i've only heard bad stuff about wireless headphones. it'd be awesome if i was wearing headings and blasting off music from my computer through out the house. ^_^x

I believe with infrared, you have to be in the same room as the transmitter. And from the reviews I've read in the past, range seems to be under 25 ft range, but I could be wrong.

I just bought a 900mhz radio frequency one, and it arrived today. I hope it works well.

you gotta be in the front of the transmitter in order to receive the signals. (i think it's within 60o angle)

These might be fine for working in the shop, garage, whatever. If you're going for audiophile quality, you might need to keep looking. But at $19.99, they might serve a good purpose. 😉
