At the BB I went to, the gift cards are kept right above the games for each different system.
before landing the Splinter Cell demo at TRU with the included $5 off coupon.
TRU=Toys 'R' Us? Was the demo free? I should of stopped by there then.
Yep...and it's now posted in the list.

Sales guy said the $3 off promotion ends the 18th (he's probably wrong) but website says it's from the 8th to 11th. Happy hunting. And much thanks to TallGeese for this thread.

I got a SWEET deal on FFX (I know, not Xbox, but listen) for $25-$3-(my buddy's employee discount)+2 sodas and some licorice = $24. I was very, very happy.

The only thing that stinks about getting games from Blockbuster is that you can't really trade them in anywhere. Stores don't want them. The only way to go is Ebay.

I was at my local Software ETC. (Hawaii) today and saw a couple things. 1st off, if you buy a new xbox (Sega GT/JSRF) and 2 games, get a $50 refund. There didn't seem to be any restrictions. 2nd I saw that they had their refurbished Xbox's for $150. Last but not least I can't believe that the gun for House of the Dead III costs $40...

Questions about the FAR DVD deal:

According to what I gather from poking thru this thread, the free DVD controller rebate could NOT be used with the Sega bundle, then it could, then it was dead, BUT when I was looking at it last week at Circuit City, their were stickers on the remotes saying that it had been extended to Nov. 30th. Huh?

1. Has it been extended?

2. Can it be used with the Sega bundle?

3. Can I buy the combo from CC AND get the rebate for the DVD kit? $200 (bundle)+$30 (remote)-$10 (combo)-$30 (MIR)=$190+tax?

Some DEFINITIVE rulings would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bump for the DVD remote question, I'd be interested in knowing if this is true as well (and whether or not this just applies to CC, or if MSFT is the one that actually extended it, i.e. a new rebate form).

Prolly the only way to get a DEFINITIVE ruling is to contact Microsoft.
Let us know what you find out ;)

I CC site lists the current $10 deal. I'll have to run over to a B&M and see what I can find out.

Just bought the JSRF/Sega GT2002 package. On the package there is a sticker for the dvd remote rebate. At least with this sticker, the rebate has been extended.

"(original offer end date of 11/02/02 has been extended to 11/30/02)"

I don't know if this means you can get it without the rebate on the box (as the form is right on the box) though. I would just make sure you get the sticker. Oh, and KayBee Toys has a $20 gift card that you get with the Xbox package as well. Pretty sweet deal overall. Xbox with dvd package and $20 gift card. I used the gift card for another controller so $210 + tax total. :)

That's a good deal at Kay-Bee. I don't NEED the DVD playback (have DVD deck) and I'd rather have the effective $180 deal. Hmm....

Just got back from EB...during November they are offering extra trade-in credit on multiple game trade-ins:

Trade-in 2-3 games = Extra $2 credit per game
Trade-in 4-6 games = Extra $3 credit per game
Trade-in 7-9 games = Extra $4 credit per game
Trade-in 10 games = Extra $5 credit per game

Requires coupon (available at store). Offer good until 11/30/02. One coupon per family. Some titles excluded from trade-in. Other restrictions may apply.

BTW: Any generous and enterprising EB employee who wouldn't mind scanning some titles for us and posting which ones are accepted and which ones aren't would earn the eternal gratitude of many of us here!

I stopped at CC and Gamestop and while they both still had the Free DVD posters up, they all said that the deals expired on Nov. 2. None of the boxes had the stickers I saw before. (I checked a dozen.)

After playing the Sega 2002 demo on the demo unit, I decided to pass on getting an X-Box. The lack of damage modeling, after playing GTA3 (PC) seemed lame. I also tried the Agressive Inline and Outlaw Golf demos and remembered why I don't play my DC that much...I SUCK AT CONSOLE GAMES!!! Me and analog sticks are not friends.

The NV30 is going to be announced in a couple of weeks, so I'm gonna save the two bills for the next PC upgrade.

Thanks for the help, all. Great thread, TallGeese. :)

You can have them look one or two games up via phone if you are interested. I called three different stores and got three different prices when I traded in a couple of games recently.

Trade-in 10 games = Extra $5 credit per game

When I tried to do this a few weeks ago I was told that only 1 of the games I was trading in applied to this credit...

Just bought the xbox bundle on Oct. 15 from EB. Found this forum lately and realized that this is a great thread!

I am new to this so here are a couple questions...

What is the difference between the Advaced AV Pack and High Definition AV Pack?

Also, does every Target store have the xbox clearance sale or is it just on selected Target Stores?

Thanks!

Thanks! Glad you like it. And welcome to AT!

Advanced AV Pack = Supports S-video video, RCA audio, and digital optical audio out
High-Definition AV Pack = Supports component video, RCA audio, and digital optical audio out

It seems that most Targets routinely clearance items, but your mileage will vary WIDELY store to store both on price and availability.
You cannot PM between stores either, since each store's management sets its own prices for clearance items.

Just received the final release copy of the Xbox Live Starter Kit disc.

According to the included docs...this new disc automatically gets activated on 11/14/2002.
After that, the original beta discs won't work anymore.

BTW: Anyobody want to lay any odds that they fixed the "full-version" bugs some folks found in the MotoGP and Whacked! demo on the original disks?

I was at Target today looking for the HDTV Pack which wasn't in stock :-( ... However, when I looked in the cabinet of video games, they had quite a few copies of the X-Box Live! Starter kit. I didn't pick one up myself since I'm a beta tester, but anyone who is looking to get one might want to head over to Target ...

If TallGeese is correct, then the discs won't work until 11/14 anyways, but it might be worth a shot!

Trade in PS2 and 3 games (non-excluded), receive Xbox bundle FREE - EB (posted 11-06-02)
I took-up Electronic Boutique on their PS2 for XBOX trade-in offer. Along with this offer, was the one for an additional $5 for non-excluded games when I traded in over 10 games. I walked away with these items for a grand total of $5.38 out of my pocket:

  1. 1. XBOX game bundle
    2. DVD remote
    3. Medal of Honor Frontline
    4. Splinter Cell (on order)
    5. Mech Assault (on order)
    6. Live Kit
    7. A/V Pack
    8. 2 year warranty
Lets just say I had a lot of PS2 stuff
