<snip>so if you've got a Hollywood Video nearby, take advantage of their 2-for-$20 sale - nearly everything is OAR (original aspect ratio).

Is this sale still going one? Cause I was just @Hollywood yesterday and they only had 2 for $25 sale on DVDs.

I was at HWV today (Tues.) and bought a couple (Spy Kids 2 and Greek Wedding for the g/f). Sale's been going for a while, judging from the DVD Talk Bargains forum where I got the tip.

What the cost to play PSO on live? I think I read the first month is free...what's the price after that?

Also what do you all think of this game? Is it fun? I've never really played these RPG games (unless you count 007 or Buffy).

The first 2 months are free and after that it is 8.95 per month.

But you can't even play singleplayer UNLESS you have Live.
That's just silly.

I think mp should be free, but I can wish

Yeah, that is pretty silly. I remember reading somewhere that they had some sort of reason for doing it, but it really didn't involve anything that benefitted the customer it was security or revenue related. On the flip side though, if you already have an Xbox with Live, then the Xbox version is your best deal. It's $10 cheaper than the GC version and comes with 2 months instead one month subscription, and of course the ability to talk to your fellow players. I actually waited for this version myself.

I still think this should have been the pack-in for Live, especially as they said we would be getting a full online game with it originally, and this was the Japanese pack-in.

They should prolly release a Live kit choice with PSO as the pack-in.

They could also release Live Kits with MA or GR as the pack-in.

Just bought PSO and Xbox Live at EB. If you buy it from EBgames.com you can get Xbox Live and any Live enabled game for $10 off (although PSO doesn't show up on the list of games, it does work with the coupon on the site). If you buy it in the store, they give you a $10 rebate form and I believe the rebate is in the form of a Gift Voucher. I bought it in the store since I wanted to play PSO with some friends today. But if I wasn't so impatient, the online deal would have been much better.

Xbox Live, here I come. :)

Is the $10 gift voucher only if you buy Live at the same time or just for buying PSO. Also, has anyone gotten the gift voucher from MGS2 earlier in the year...I never got mine.

Kung Fu Chaos $29.99 at EB...is this game worth getting for a single-player guy like me?

EDIT: Confirmed price in store for EB (PR $26.99). GameStop has it for $29.99 new as well (in-store, not online yet), so it looks like an across-the-board price drop by MS.

"But you can't even play singleplayer UNLESS you have Live.

meaning one has to have Live connected to play singleplayer offline?

No, you don't have to be connected to Xbox Live, you have to have the Xbox Live service to play it offline. Once you sign up for Xbox Live, you get an ID that is stored to your Hard Drive. That ID is what is needed to run PSO. The reason that they give for that is because the Japanese version of PSO for Xbox was included in the Xbox Live starter Kit as the free game. Since the Japanese version required the purchase of Xbox Live to play, this trickled over to the America version since Microsoft didn't feel like recoding the game (Sega had turned over the final code for PSO to Microsoft back around November or December IIRC.)

Why they took this long to release a finished product is beyond my knowledge.

As for the voucher, it is for buying Xbox Live and any Live enabled game. Not just for buying PSO. Also Microsoft has is selling a "free" USB keyboard adaptor for PSO. Of course this "free" adaptor has $6.95 shipping and there is tax charged to the shipping.
