I push mine over an optical TOSlink cable plugged into the LiveDrive unit for my SBL Platinum 5.1.

You usually have to enable SPDIF in in your Sound control panel.

All in all, pretty simple setup.

Damn it, I was playing Halo through optical (with DD and DTS disabled) and the sound just stopped. So I'm like, ok wtf. Reconnect the cable, check the settings, still no sound. Optical decided it doesn't want to work anymore. What the hell is going on?

Does your receiver still report an optical link attached?

Er, Hercules. Are there any censors that report what's connected?

No, I wish. When I unplug the optical cable from the GTXP box, I can see a bright red light. So I'm guessing something is being sent from the Xbox. I really don't want to drag the Xbox to the room with another receiver with optical in. But I guess I don't have much of a choice. I still don't understand why it was working fine for like an hour then all a sudden just went silent for no reason. Ugh! Be right back with the results :(

Ok, works with the dolby digital receiver in the other room. So I guess it's my stupid computer/GTXP. Why would it all a sudden decide to stop working with optical in?

Thanks for the help guys. I figured it out. Well, I didn't, but it fixed itself. I muted the optical in. Turned off the computer, turned it back on, unmuted optical in tried again and it worked. I already tried restarting 4 times, messed with every option in the sound card settings, but somehow this did it. Just glad it works.

Guys, no offense, but this thread has again veered off into a general Xbox Q&A thread. How about creating a OT thread and putting a link to it from here to ask those questions? Hot deals primarily please!

On another note, DCM, the IJ deal did indeed come with a standard JS just like you'd see at a store (say BB).

Lets get back on track with some deals!

Starting Sunday 3/1/2003 @ BestBuy -

Xbox Console w/JSRF, SGT2002 - $199.99 PLUS get Amped, and Blinx for FREE!
MechAssault or Ghost Recon - $44.99 Each

@ Compusa -

LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring - $14.99

Nothing earth shattering, but a decent deal for the Console with 4 games free.

Correction!!! With this, you get either Amped OR Blinx or one of three other (unlisted - prolly Plat Hits) titles, NOT both. Those were just the ones pictured.

Good deals at www.GoHastings.com

Fusion Frenzy: $17.56
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: $24.64
Max Payne: $7.99
4x4 Evo 2: $17.60
Project Gotham Racing: $9.20
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance: $33.00
NBA Inside Drive 2003: $26.57

There are some other decent deals, too. A few of these are currently OOS, but their quantities change regularly, so keep an eye on them. Also, Hastings has plenty of in-store deals that beat their web prices. For instance, I bought GunValkyrie and NBA2K2 for $7.50 each and much to my surprise, they rang up with $10 rebates! Nothing like getting paid to take a video game home! Check 'em out!

KIM that the uber-low prices are for used copies.

Lukewarm, IMHO, but thanks for the heads-up my man!

The last big Target deal I know about was the "Platinum Hit for $16.99" that ran last week. Other than that...

They have the Xbox including the two games, and Blinx, and a DVD controller kit, and an extra official MS S-Controller for $240.20 at Sam's Club after $25 MIR. Normally $265.20

Good Deal either way IMO.
